I am a big fan of one handed opening knives but I also dabble in the slip joint category. I have something like 30 or more slips and I like the quality and craftsmanship that goes into them. A one hander I am like obsessed about and want one so bad is the Spyderco Gayle Bradley, but I would rather buy a slipjoint instead. Is there a knife out there that features modern materials like Carbon Fiber/Micarata/G10/D2/S30V/VG10 or something? Something that would have the same stuff but in slipjoint form. I want something to swing me away from the Spyderco and back to slipjoints. I want something that screams quality. Idealy I know this is a far cry from what is probably available and I will accept 154CM or ATS34 as a blade steel. Any idea guys? $150 price range, is that possible?

Man I really can't think of one that has the blade steel and materials that you want that is a production slippy. I know case makes the Trapperlock, but that is a one hand opener trapper with their normal steel and bone handles. My only suggestion would be to up your price range and look into custom knives. I know, not what you wanted to hear huh?

I was looking around, I really like the idea of a Case Damascus Barlow, my daddy was a barlow man and I have always wanted to play around with Damascus. Is Damascus decent for an EDC or should I still to regular steel?

I have not tried a Case damascus knife (at least the ones after the Parker era.), but in general, Damascus makes for a fine edc. Just treat it as you would a high carbon blade. Of course if it is stainless damascus less care is required.

By it's nature damscus varies from maker to even batch by maker. Well made damascus can be an excellent choice for EDC and in cases superior to stainless and carbon steels based on the fact that cutting contests have been won with damascus blades on occasions.

Start you separation from Spydies by buying Spyderco Urban (VG-10) or Spyderco UKPK (CPM-S30V) Spyder Slipjoints and slowly move towards GEC's, Queens, Cases and so forth. I usually pair my Queen Barlow or what ever traditional I am carrying with Spyderco Urban or Spyderco UKPK in case I need one hand opener.

You might take a look at A.G. Russell's site. Many of his designs are a blend of traditional style & modern materials. They can often be fairly expensive, but I think they're still worth a look.

No...not without going custom for your slipjoint or Spyderco.

Queen had D2 but no CF, Micarta, G10
Case has G-10 but only in True-Sharp.
AG Russell has some BG-42, ATS-34 but natural handle material

What you're looking for is mostly outside the norm for a traditional pocket knife. You may have to go custom.

On the other hand, if you want to make a clean break, try a nice CV Case on a natural handle material. It may surprise you.

 agree with that. Part of the attraction for me is the simplicity and their unchanged nature. If it ain't broke why fix it.

OWE, was right! check out the A.G Russell site He has some knives with
VG-10 blades. But If your going to spend $150 you should try something different than you've got before. Buy a Chestnut Swayback Jack in CV and you'll still have enough money left over to buy something like a Queen(Dan Burke)Barlow with D2 blade steel. Now you've got 2 new great slip joints and there's nothing better than that !! As We all know! lol.

Based strictly on your criteria in your OP, I don't think you will find what you are looking for. If you can raise the budget by 50% or so you should be able to snag a nice single blade Trapper or Dogleg in Micarta or G-10 and nice stainless steel in either the customs for sale by individual thread:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=748

or in the Makers section:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=753

There are several makers who make what you are looking for, you just have to be vigilant and patient to snag the good ones.

Good luck!

Now don't anyone faint, I think there is a Buck that fits the bill.

Try the Vantage line of Bucks one blade pocket clip knives...they are as much of a slipjoint knife as a 110/112, just with more modern look. Actually there are two sizes, there is a G-10 handled, S30v steel, with a great pocket clip you can take off or even switch sides with. Also one in Paperstone with Sandivic steel.

I only buy older knives or new stockman releases, well maybe a trapper also, but somebody gave me one of the small one's and it got under my skin.....I may try to take off the rubber scales and but stag scales on it and then maybe I can get past the door guard at the slipjoint club....

Another one you might check out is Al Mar Knives. Their Eagle/Falcon Ultralight knives are a very attractive blend of Micarta handles on what might otherwise be viewed as (nearly) traditional gent's knives. Most of them are AUS-8 blades which, although it's not considered a 'super' steel, isn't bad.

Regarding A.G. Russell, he's also got 'traditional', stag-handled stockman & whittler patterns with BG-42 blades. That ain't bad.
