Help sharpening a chisel grind...seriously!

I’m having problems getting a good edge on my mini cqc7b. I have read the sharpening faq, have used the sharpmaker (204), flat stones, etc… but have yet to be able to produce a very fine edge (hair shaving) or even raise a burr. What I’m asking for here is “how to sharpen a chisel grind for dummies or something similar.” Anybody have any suggestions or secrets that helped them out before they mastered it? If I can’t sharpen a chisel grind, then I think I’m working with the wrong knives! Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

??? Having problems using the Sharpmaker on chisel grinds? That's the rig I use in the store. Try this, it works for me (at least it seems to; people pay me for it): one side of your blade is beveled, the other isn't. Run the beveled edge down the rod from base to tip repeatedly. How dull the knife is usually determines how many times; if it's really dull, maybe as many as 20. I go in increments of 5-10 most of the time. Check for a burr after each set. Once a burr has been evenly established, make a pass on the back side of the blade on the opposite rod. A lot of pressure is not needed; you just want to clean the burr off. Also, don't work up a big burr or you risk a wire edge, which feels sharp, but once it's gone (which takes little time) your blade is dull all over again. I use the points of the triangle rod rather than the flats, and it's rare that I have to use the coarse rods. I think that's everything; not that complicated, but sometimes it goes really fast and sometimes it takes a while. Good luck!

What angle should I use, I am having to "cant" the knife to the side during sharpening and am trying to stay consistent but am failing. Hell, I can sharpen a commander, but not this!
Perhaps I should just send it to a suspect and have them put an edge on it for me!

I haven't gotten one of the mini's in yet, they're part of the next wave of stock to reach the shop (Soon, right, Derek?

). But I don't think they're ground at a vastly different angle than the full size CQC-7's, which I hold straight up and down, which seems to work just fine. Tough to say without seeing what you're doing. When is the forum gonna get video in the posts? Perhaps that's not a good idea...too many of you guys are bad boys...
