Help, Sifu sharpening.

I just bought a Sifu. The factory edge was satisfactory, but I wanted a sharper edge that could shave hair. Well after quite a while on my sharpmaker I got it very sharp. It could glide through paper. Thought it still can not shave arm hair. This is a first for my sharpmaker.

Any ideas why this is the case. is it the ats 34. Or could it be that the blade geometry makes it difficult to achieve that kind of an edge. I even tried the back bevel feature. Still nothing.

Thanks for you time, Caliblades

Hi Caliblades! When I got my Sifu, I wanted to reprofile it. Used an extra coarse Lansky diamond stone and brought it to 30 degrees. I took it through the rest of the stones, all the way to extra fine, and the edge is really nice now. I wouldn't try reprofiling ats 34 without a diamond stone though, too hard on the arm!

Thanks Hank I actually fit a Gerber pocket diamond sharpener in the slots of the sharpmaker. This usually works out fine. I guess that I have to keep at it huh.
