I've been designing several nasty little sharp things, and I have no Idea how to go about making them into reality. Are there any good makers in the San Antonio area I could meet to discuss how to get into the business of grinding, and assembling blades?
The most ambitious project is a large folder called a "Mantis" that's a combination of a tonfa, kama, and enormus lockback. I also have several more practical, and buildable designs for solid full tang sheathe blades.

Here are some makers in your area: Gus Montano (619) 273-6357, Michael Manabe (619) 483-2416, Dave Ellis [ABS Master Smith] (619) 285-4305, Sean Meloy (619) 465-7173. If you are willing to go a little farther there is also Phil Hartsfield in Newport Beach, (949) 722-9792.

there are a lot of makers that are in the Los Angles area. If you want info on those, let me know and I will see what info I can get.

Bill Kellar has a shop in San Antonio, don't have his # right now but he has a site if you do a search. Bill does folders and fixed blades mainly Bowies.

Let's try this again.

I hope this helps more than the last time.

There is also a young fella by the name of Johnny Stout in New Braunfels that makes a pretty fair piece. :)

Center Cross has a terrific links page, which includes -- I believe-- the entire membership of the Texas makers/collectors bunch. Worth checking out, I'd think.

Also, from what I've read and seen, Gene, who runs Center Cross -- whose last name is totally deserting my memory - Sorenson?? -- is a very talented maker who can work in several formats. You might not need to go farther than him.

The URL is (I think):
http//www.centercross.com/links.html

Huge links page.
