Sorry for the crappy pics but here is the finished up Parang. It still needs sharpened. I used Holly for scales and contoured them like a coke bottle...kind of. I saw Rick Marchands challenge knife and really like the handle so I copied it on this one. That is a lanyard tube out back, I just haven't cleaned it out yet.
crappy video. Need to figure out the camcorder thing.http://www.youtube.com/user/kfuknives

My first big knife! I had alot of fun with it and learned a crap ton. Bigger blades are a whole other ball game. This one will stay with me for awhile.

Thanks guys. It is 8 1/2 blade 5 1/2 handle convex grind. I won't be making anymore for awhile but It is good to know I can do it. My first big blade and first convex grind.

When I get it sharpened up Im gonna go whack some trees and get my wife to film it! Ill post up a link.

I just heard hearts breaking all across the forum. :p :D

Chris, pretty sharp knife after all that chopping, looks like it could be either a "chopper" or just an all-around camp knife . . . . but I do have one question . . . .
How did you talk your wife into cutting the grass while you were playing around with that knife ??? ??? ??? lmao . . . . :) :)
Great style, bet you are gonna sell a few . . . .
Be safe.

Watched the video. Damn that thing is sharp.

Warrior, right on the nose. I have about a half notion to send some of my fixed blades to him and have him work his magic on them . . . . .
Damn sharp is an understatement for either him or BA & their knives . . . .
Be safe.

Guys, the edge is the easy part! You have to be on with your heat treating method to keep that edge as displayed in his video,I have worked 1095 for many years i find it one of the hardest to figure out,But when you do,Well you see the results in the vid!! Nice bro!! I AM VERY DAMN PROUD OF YOU! ASWELL IM IMPRESSED ! I KNEW THE MOMENT YOU WALKED OUTTA MY SHOP YOU WERE GONNA BE UP AND COMING MAKER,AND ITS SHOWING ALREADY,IN NO TIME HE'S GONNA BE A MAKER TO CONTEND WITH, I HOPE MY ASS IS RETIRED!! :D

BA, kudos to yourself as well. Chris has the talents, you know where to direct them . . and if it weren't for people like you willing to pass along their knowledge and craftsmanship, think of what sports teams would be like if there were no coaches to lead all that "team talent" . . . . Both of you are making unbelieveable leaps on this forum . . . if you dont' believe me, look at the "new names" that we keep bringing up that are stopping by. The Man Himself Rich Marchand was here, and I saw Esav the other night as well . . . that's the first time I think he has been out of Whine & Cheese or The Cove this year . . . . (Sorry Esav, just kidding, no warning points ok ??? :D )
God I am telling you, I hope I am around in another 8-10 years to see what is rolling out of both of your guy's shops . . . . should be interesting to say the least . . . .
Be safe.
