Hi Sal:
This knife is a monster. I am talking about the Manix-80. There is nothing “mini” about it, especially the blade. The Blade length is definitely not 80mm. It is more 83mm.

We need a real Mini-Manix: With a blade length of 75mm. Please remember a lot of us live in metropolitan areas. Blade length off 3”/76mm and above are “VERBOTEN”. As a matter of fact we need more real Mini versions, i.e. blade length of 75mm, of successful large Spydercos. Not only the Manix or Military, but also the Chinook. And yes, we all are looking forward to the Mini-Persian (with a blade length of 75mm?). Especially as the Manix-80 & Para-Military turned out to be too big.

Dear Sal: Please keep in mind when you shorten the blade (to 75mm) not to slim down the knife. We like them sturdy. And please keep the big handle for our chubby fingers.

Thank you,
FRIZ
P.S.: I love my new Manix-80. It will replace my Lil'Temperance as the “house” knife. But neither of the two will ever be able to go for a walk, i.e. out of the house, with me…

I completely agree, aside from one point: I want a smaller handle. Something around the size of the Native would be ideal for my needs. When this model was first announced, I was elated because I'd have a folder with the robust build of the Manix, but in a smaller EDC size... And then I got it, and it was a Manix with 1/2" chopped off the blade and 1" chopped off the handle, still way too big for me.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great knife... Just not for me. If a version was made at about 80% of the size of the 80mm Manix, I'd be all over it.

The 80mm Manix is what the Paramilitary is to the Military. It's not intended as a small knife.

I think (as well as many others) that there's a hole (no pun intended) in Spyderco's line up, which would be a Manix-like Calypso Jr sized knife. Sub 3" blade, leaf shaped, full flat ground, G10 scales. Like a UKPK, but with a lock.

Sign me up for one of those..... (or maybe 2)

You're so right it hurts. (BTW, loved your response in the latest CS thread)

I like the paramilitary in its current size....I would not have bought it if it weren't significantly large (handle wise) than my other knives of the same blade length....some folks' hands just will not fit that well on most 3 inch knives, like my minigrip. The paramilitary fixed that problem for me. So keep making the para, at least, in the current way...haven't tried a mini manix yet

feel free to send me one.

I definitely agree!!!!!!
I would buy several of these knives if they were made.
I was hoping the mini-manix would be it.
Perhaps Sal will consider desinging a UKPK with a lock for us!

Well..."different strokes." I personally prefer the BIG one.
I like the larger version also. I'd like Spydeco to make an XL (even BIGGER) version of the Manix. :D

Yes, please! Complete with the same clip, which I really like (at least in the pictures...I haven't seen one in real life).

Have you considered moving? Just kidding. I think in Texas where I live there's a restriction on minimum rather than maximum length...:D

I haven't gotten my hands on the Mini-Manix yet, but if it's true that the Manix vs. Mini Manix is like the Military vs. Paramil, then I'll probably dig it alot.
