I was wondering if anyone has had any experiences with these knives. I want to get my Dad a gentlemens knife for X-Mas and the Hiro Seki-Cuts have caught my eye. Is the fit and finish any good? How are the quality of the materials used?

I got one for my son last Christmas and I was very pleased. Fit and finish is as good as you would expect from any quality production folder and the materials are also first-rate. In fact, I was so impressed I picked up one of their mother of pearl fixed blades for myself. I think your Dad would be very happy.

I handled one of the Seki-Cut Hiro folders at a hardware shop (forgot the name of the folder, a small one, something with "blue" in the name), and was impressed by the fit and finish. Price was pretty reasonable too, and it looks really nice, esp. with wood overlays and a blue anodized frame.

We are proud sellers of Seki and have been impressed with every one we have had. Nice quailty! Paul

I have Little Blue - it has triple laminated blade? but VG10+VG10+VG10. I am still wondering why - probably it improves mechanical properties. Usually on the sides there are softer steel. However it is noticable three layered blade.
Performance is amaizing - exterimely sharp with excellent edge retention - VG10(even laminated). And it is beautifull by look. I am carry it all the time with me. Only problems I had: tip on my first knife bends and I have to call supplier and exchange it to new one, which I now use carefully, trying to avoid such things; and blued titanium is very easy to scratch - now I hate keys and coins in my pocket.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I think I'll pick one up for my Dad. Maybe one for myself also.....hehehe. Always looking for a reason to get another knife:)

I was thinking about getting this one for a fixed EDC.
Anyone own one?

I never owned any seki knives, but I'm thinking of getting one of their BobLum model "encounter". It's a good looking kinve with D2 blade.

Great knives. I have one and it is very well made. I just wish it had a clip. :)

No clip is one of the big reasons I love mine! Good thing we all have different tastes, or we'd all buy the same knife and try to date the same woman.

I'm kinda interested in this one:

Anyone have one like this?

Also, anyone know of a dealer that carries this model (Seki-Cut SC-138 folding katana) other than Japanese Knife Direct?

I've been eyeing that SC-138 also for a while...reminds me of a baracuda. Try doing a google search for seki-cut. I recall other vendors carrying seki-cut, but don't recall if any carried the SC-138.
