New to the forum, this is my first post. I found some knives at a local dealer and decided my 13 year old boy is ready for his own knife for when we go hunting. Nothing would make him and myself prouder than having matching knives for when we hunt when he gets taught how to skin an animal. I'll be able to use this realitivly cheap knife to teach him about blade use, care, and, hopefully next year, how to skin an elk.

Good choice. Muela makes a fine knife and the Sandvik steel should stay sharp through the whole Elk.

    Welcome to the forums Lettpre.

Nice choice for a first knife. That Muela will serve him well for a long time and will be a reminder of time spent in the woods with you.

Im gonna have to agree. There is nothing “cheap” about those Muela’s. Good steel, easy enough to keep or resharpen to a great edge. Excellent choice.

I still have the Buck 110 my father gave me under the same circumstances.

    He’s going to love it!
