How cool is this damascus?

Pretty cool. ;)
Thank you for sharing, I have never seen this type of damascus before.

Gary House, John Davis and Ed Shempp, all make Damascus similar to Johans. Barry Gallager and Rick Dunkerly get colors similar using niter bluing salts I believe.

I have seen quite a few makers that do a very colorful mosaic damascus. This material is usually very expensive. It is also not something you would want on a user. The colors wear off pretty easily.

Shane Taylor does some beautiful mosaic, but it is not as colorful as the ones in the pictures that you posted.

Thanks for the link. I love to look at pretty knives.:D

I own one of Johan's knives. He does excellent work. The mosaic is wonderful. I have a knife from him with colored mosaic damascus blade & bolsters, bark mastadon ivory handles, gold backspring & thumbstud & filework for $850. I'll post a pic later. It is gorgeous and about half of what you'd pay for something similar made from "Montana's Mafia." Even though it is from Sweden, I received my knife less than 4 months from my order date. He is also very nice and will do his best to produce the colors & pattern you want.

Man ! Talk about "designer" damascus ! ! The barstock is exceptional ! :D

There's some exceptional damascus coming out of Scandinavia these days. Kaj Embretsen, Roger Bergh, and Connie Persson are three more examples of Swedish makers who are known for their intricate multi-bar and mosaic patterns.

Here's a close-up of some Persson damascus for those of you who haven't seen examples of his work.

KnifeArt also has some pieces available for viewing on their site. Definately worth a peek!Click here.

The firecracker pattern along the edge is something I've seen on a lot of Bergh's knives as well.

Some of Roger Bergh's knives can be seen on Bladegallery.com, here. Bladegallery also currently offers some Gustafsson knives, and they've sold a lot of his work in the past too (they feature a gallery of his knives). All of that can be seen here.

Awesome stuff, all of it...

WOW:eek:
I am definately behind the times with my Damascus..
Some day I will learn to make cool stuff to..
