Hi,
I have a 40+ year old Buck 105 that, as you can imagine, needs some cleaning and polishing. I don't want to damage the black plastic handle or the purple micarta spacers so I'd like to ask you guys how to spiff this thing up from pommel to tip. Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a 105 that I purchased in 1960 at age 14 for my first legal deer hunt. The blade has a bit of patina that I've not seen on newer Bucks, such as my 119 that from the mid 1970s. I wouldn't do a thing to my 105. It earned the wear and the the patina. Why does yours need "some cleaning and polishing?" The best option might be to send it to Buck for a refurbish. I'm not sure what they charge, but the job will be done right. I did clean up a 124 that had been abused and I bought cheap at a gun show. It looked as though some idiot had mixed JB Weld on the back of the sheath and there were splatters of JB or some other epoxy on the knife itself. I used Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish on the Rosewood grips, the guard and bolster. A fine buffing paste on the blade. And a round hone to take out the scratches where the same idiot had tried to sharpen the false edge. I don't think you would damage handle, spacers, or blade with Mothers or a product call Simichrome. Still the best bet is sending it in. A knife of that vintage deserves the best.

By all means, send it in to Buck.

They will do a great job in making it look like new.

Okey dokey. Packaging it up right now and sending it in.
I checked the site and didn't find any info in "rehab." Should I just send it to the warranty dept?

Send a letter and the knife to the Buck address and make it Attention Joe Houser, write a short letter telling what you want done and you will be greatly surprised what comes back...

Well darn it I already packaged it up with a letter to the warranty dept. Do you recommend I open it up and address it to him or will it get to him anyway?

By all means open it up and write Joe a letter.

Please!!!!

Sounds like you have something special.

Address it to BKI

and not Buck Knives Inc

Some postals see the word knife and it could go poof.

Send it with Confirmation!
