I make knives and have made them and tools for a long time. Am I safe selling , say a fighting knife with sharpened clip on e-bay if I put checking local and state laws on the buyer ?
Or should I start making lolly pops ?

Nothing will completely protect you in all cases. The best you can do is put in a disclaimer stating that the buyer is to know the law.

Ebay is a CA company and therefore is bound by CA law. In CA there is no law against buying or selling the type of knife discribed. I don't know of any law restricting the sell of fixed blades. Laws only normally affect the carry of such knives. You can however get yourself into trouble with certain folder types (ie. autos, balisongs, gravity knives ect.).

You need to read over CA P.C. 653k and P.C. 12020. Both can be found at www.leginfo.ca.gov/calaw.html.
