How do you wrap a fixed blade w/ rayskin?

I would really like to make a fixed blade or two wrapped in rayskin. So, how do you go about doing that? You soak the rayskin in water first right? But then do you cut 2 pieces for each side, or fold the skin in half over the handle and have one side open?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, I have seen pages before about cord wrapping, but another link would always be appreciated, some of the older ones don't work.
