How many knives have you lost while throwing?

I hit a bad streak, lost two knives to the tall weeds out back when I cranked up the speed and completely missed the target.

One was a charming cheapie, the other was a True Flight thrower.

That hurt to lose actually :(, so I think I'm going to paint mine remaining knives bright red or emergency green...

well, not quite, but close... lost my True Flight thrower (in my backyard) in November under the snow and found it in April when the snow gone:cool:

I know I lost one for sure when it banged off a target and flew at a weird angle into a thicket of trees.

But I may have lost another so long ago I can't recall..

My advice... they aren't really lost if you have a general idea where they are... Get off bladeforums and go find 'em.

I lost a knife in the long grass and weeds before too. To find it I tied a big speaker magnet to a sring and spent a couple of minutes sweeping back and forth. I found it in no time.

I've lost (and break)too many of them. The last one was a mini flight, after an hour or so of happy throwing (I was really happy of my mini), I hit the tree but the mini went flying to one side.
Lots of dead leaves around, I couldn't believe I had lost it! I spent some time looking for it...I returned some days later with a rake, but the mini wouldn't show up.
I'll come back in the winter to the same spot, I don't give up.

I actually have lost none; so to speak. At at time in my life when I used to throw the most, I could only pay for one decent throwing set, so I would not really afford to lose any. If one ended up in the tall grass, I always kept looking until I found it; period. When I used old kitchen knives, other castaways, and even old screw drivers (that I could afford to lose) and one of those ended up missing in action, I was not so particular.

This past Saturday I lost one in a pile of wood. (2 cords). I hope my son will find it when he stacks the wood this week.

One which snapped in two with a *pling*.

If that counts as losing the knife. Functions now as a rebar in a cellar my uncle built for himself.

My girlfriend bought me a nice set of throwers and i went out just a few days after and was throwing at my mutilated target tree and threw too hard at the wrong angle and it slid under the leaves....i had 3-4inches of leaves. So i looked and looked for hours but eventually gave up, a week later I decided "Screw this" and pulled out the leaf blower...I was happy I got my knife, my mom was happy she got a free leaf removal

Even a cheap metal detector should be able to find a throwing knife. I needed one to find a ring and started asking around to borrow one, it seems a lot of people have them collecting dust...

Lost an SKS Bayonet last week, but it turned up when I mowed.

Hmmm. I had thought of using those. Even found 10 for $30 at CTD - then discovered they won't ship to MA. Unreal. We don't HAVE KNIFE LAWS HERE! (Well, in relation to the rest of the country, many of ours are pretty lax - esp for an unsharpened spike.)

Picked up a few CZ VZ58 bayo's from Eknifeworks for $7 ea instead. Hope they work well, if not I'm out about $25.

I was just thinking, if you lost it in the tall weeds, and you are within driving distance of where you lost it, go get your weed whacker and find the durn thing.
