Jeff I've asked you about covering the hest warranty after the split and you stated Rowen has some at the shop for returns. Do you happen to know how many roughly??, I only ask because I have a funny feeling ryp wont be in the knife business in the not to distant future..

I'm not making accusations or trying to stir the pot, get peoples juices going, I'm just curious that's all, plain and simple.. if I used the hostile environment survival tool as it was designed I'd break it for sure, not a matter of if, but when..

with that said I just want to know if I'll be covered in the future, with plentiful stock..

thanks,

Rob

If we run out of HEST stock then we will replace with something of equal or greater value. Whatever RYP does is not the concern of this forum but I personally think the HEST folder is a good design and will do well.

I don't know that I understand this statement. I know any knife can break under the right/wrong conditions, but I've beat the crap out of mine a few times and done a good bit of prying with no signs failure. I'm curious what it was designed for that you think will break it? I mean, if something will break it then was it really designed to do that?

I'm sure after opening the 10,000th beer, the HEST will fail and snap in half.

Dont trust your feeling. Many people love the DPX blades and i know they are still doing fine and have plans to make many more knives. :jerkit:

You're staring at a HEST and a chop saw aren't you...

God bless,
Adam

PS: Sorry, I know you're not, I couldn't resist.

Brainstorm; A ESEE5 the size and thickness of the HEST.

Application? Don't know, but it would be cool:D

EDIT:
Concerning the warranty on the HEST...I've never heard of or seen a broken one. It's a pretty strong knife, you'd have to be prying metal doors apart with the HEST and a breaker bar to break one.

Okay to clarify, I merely stated if it were used as a HEST.. to me the key word here is hostile, although unlikely I'll ever face that extreme situation.. If I were in dire straights and the prybar doesn't work or fit into the application I need it for (right away)the blade will have to do to suffice.. Now I know the blade is pretty heavy duty and all I'm just saying..

You're obviously not into the politics of it all, that's cool time will tell, again I never posted this with the intent to trash talk..
