How much might a nearly mint 2 line inverted be worth?

I hope its ok to ask this sort of thing here, if not, apologies in advance:
I have a mint 120 from (pre?) 1972 ( 2 line inverted, flap sheath) with the Dec 1972 receipt in the box. I am thinking of selling it, but likely not on the forum.
What is it worth?
Thanks everyone!

I just picked one up on the bay with the same criteria as you have just explained and I paid 125. So I say probably somewhere between 125 and 160. watch what they close at on the bay or other auction sites...

As long as the box and sheath are mint too, $125-$160 is a good guess.

Receipt in the box is always a nice plus.

The old ones in the box always seem to get a good reception on the Bay.

BG makes a good point of consitering that recept!
supriseingly many collectors really up their bids
if that is with it !
note many will get a old one in great condition and
will go hunting for a box to match it
be sure to say that this is the orgional box!!!
i have seen older knives for sale in "orgional box
that the box was older then the knife!!!
yes with that recept it is a good package!!

I reciently bought a 120 "In the box" w the original sheath that had neither the original sheath ( 2 yrs older and) nor the right box a year earlier. I really just wanted the knife so the box/sheath didn't matter.

I may be the exception, but I collect knives for pleasure. Thus, while I always appreciate it when the box and papers are offered with a knife, it doesn't hinder me from buying a knife if they are not there. The condition of the knife is what counts for me.

I save all that stuff because it would be financially irresponsible not to; however, I hate my enormous stack of boxes of boxes in side of boxes. I like KNIVES! Speaking of which, can someone direct me to tang stamping protocols for pre 1985 fixed blade Bucks? I am very confused.

Group 3 1981 Blade stamped BUCK, XXX, U.S.A. and is oriented the same as the previous group. Guard has one micarta and two aluminum spacers. Pommel has two micarta spacers and one aluminum spacer. I should note that I have only seen the 119, 120, a couple 121s, and one 118 in this configuration and it is likely that the other models skipped this and went straight to the next version. Holster style sheath still possible but also wrap around the handle type is introduced. The belt loop on the 120 swivels. Same one piece yellow box as previous.

Group 4 1981-1986 Blade stamp is still the same as the previous group. Guard has one micarta spacer and two aluminum spacers. Pommel has one micarta and one aluminum spacer. Holster style sheath is still in use on some models. Just about every type of sheath is found in this group. Still the same one piece yellow box as previous.

Group 5 1986- Blades now have a date code following the model number and are stamped BUCK, XXX<, U.S.A. This is the only difference between this group and the one previous. Sheath styles used are probably the same as the group above. Although the logo on the box may have changed slightly, it is still a one piece yellow construction. Over the next many years the boxes used were one piece Black with white letters, then green and tan, category boxes, and now the present orange and black.
