Anyone know how old this stone is, or should I say the box? I found it at a junk store south of Gainesville today.

Buck moved into that location in 1961. That stone had a different box that year. So, it must be from 1962-63 as the box changed in 1964 and wording. Larry O. did a
good article on this topic in the Sept. 2006 issue. Thanks for the nice photos. DM

I just found this:

What year were zip codes first used?
On April 30, 1963, Postmaster General John A. Gronouski announced that the ZIP Code would begin on July 1, 1963.

Looks like I found an old one! I also acquired a single Washita Stone in a BUCK box along with the 2 stone with oil can set. The can is still sealed.

By '64 most areas had there specific zip codes. Any thing without a zip code can only be 'guessed to be pre '63-'64 unless you have more information narrowing down the dates. Great find show some pictures. I have a Washita stone in a small plastic box and I also have the plastic case with two stones and the can of oil. I'm not sure they are the same as yours. They are older than any of the stuff thats around lately. I'll have to go look at it...

The stone says 131, and the the two stone set with oil can says 133 and the oil can says El Cajon 92022.

If its the plant on Weld Blvd.? Buck moved into that one August 1980 as there were two in El Cajon. DM

I have been offered either a Camillus made 301 or a 501 with micarta handles with the inlay pins exposed like on a 110. Don't know whether to take the trade or not.

I'll take some pictures of the other 2 when I get home tonight.

I would only trade with someone if 1) you dont really want the stone and 2) the Camillus 301 has inlay pins. Other than that your giving it away. Camillus 301s alone are a dime a dozen, IMO...

no mater what you do it is a nice find .. and not far from my house!!!
