I've got all my file work done, still looking for a damned T-5 torx bit. Smallest I can find is a T-7 without going to mail order.
I want to make an aluminum spacer for the backspine too. I've got 1/8" but the stand offs that came with the kit are closer to 5/32". Is the micarta spacer in the upgrade kit made of 1/8" stock? I don't remember seeing micarta in 5/32".

Yes Matt the spacer is .154 or so.

The backspine material has to surface ground from 3/16 g10. You could buy some 5/32 P ground ss for this. I think there are other materials out there that are 5/32.

A piece of scrap blade material would work from a blade cut out.

Matt,

I found that T-5 bit sold single at my local tool store under the Vermont American brand name. Now that was only a single tip that that needed to be placed in a magnetic screw driver.
As Mr. Ralph all ready note the thickness I am taking some micarta down to size with some elbow grease. But this just occured to me when I was about finished, how about stacking that spacer material to match the correct thickness. Materials such a stainless sheet, micarta, copper sheet this could be a interesting look that would offer matching materials to the scales.

Thanks guys
I'll have to see what I can find in some thicker stock.I may see how the stacked idea looks also. I've got some .040" stainless that could go on either side of the .125" aluminum.I'd have to thin down the aluminum sone for that though.
Now I'm really pissed off with my local sears store. Not only do they not have any normal screwdrivers at all that have torx heads other than a set of T-15 to T25 for $30, they have the hex bits from vermont american but only stock them down to a T-7

Darrel,

Just popped over to the Koval website and had a look at the 605....read a bunch about it here, but never took the time to look. It looks great.

I'm curious though, how thick is the knife though the bolsters?

Diligence
