Anyone?
I've got an ontario rat 3 and a tops tom brown tracker and I'd like to put bow drill holes in both of them.

I was thinking maybe some kind of drill or dremmel?

Any suggestions?

Slow and easy with the scale secured on a drill press... I'd practice on a similarly sized piece of wood and mark the bit using some masking tape with the depth you want.

Wrap the knife so as to not damage it and CLAMP it down! You don't want that thing letting loose and whipping around on you! Good luck and be safe. I may have to try this but then I'll have to learn how to make a bow drill :)And how to use one...

Like Grunt said....take the scales off;) Probably a good idea to provide a backing to the scale...to reinforce the scale( as the tang normally does) and help with stability in the drill press vise

I agree, maybe a hunk of wood but I'd be careful of marking the bit so that you don't drill through the scale... I think you'd want the wooden drill to ride in the scale and not wear on the tang where you could get rusting started... The depth is critical... I wonder if anyone who has a ESEE-5 could mike the depth and let us know? This is something I'd like to do to my ESEE-6...
