How to tighten a snap?

I have a folding pair of Minolta Activa 10x25 binoculars. The pleather belt pouch it came with was fragile and hideous so I swapped it out for a ballistic nylon pouch (from Roadrunner). The belt loop closes with a snap. The snap is tight but it doesn't take a whole lot of pressure to pop it. I'm worried about hiking with my binoculars and losing them because the belt strap unsnaps when brushing against something. My first instinct was just to JB Weld the snap and never worry about it again, but on second thought the snap release is a good feature.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make the snap (classic round snap) so it is very tight and requires a lot of pressure to pop?

Thanks

Get a pair of Channel lock pliers and slightly crimp the part of the snap that goes over the other piece. In effect making it oval instead of round. Do it slowly, better to have to do it 5 times to get it right than to ruin it trying to go fast.
