I've been looking around for a multi-use backpack designed for use with a hydration bladder, but I'm coming up short. I've checked to see what Camelbak is offering these days, Maxpedition because it seems to popular around here and few random searches but haven't quite found what I was looking for. I'm guessing it will end up being something modular. Something with a MOLLE setup would be nice as well.

Anyone have any suggestions or have I already missed the obvious option?

Can you be more specific as to what ways you are coming up short? In my limited experience it seems like every single major brand out there is offering hydration bladder compartments in their gear these days. My dead-simple Eagle A-III pack which is now around 8 years old even has one.

I think my main problem is that I'm having a hard time finding the right size. I had a 900cu/in Camelbak HAWG which made a great daypack, but wasn't very good for anything more because tent and sleeping bag carry was that was near impossible. Then I see multi-day packs jump up to the 3000-4000cu/in range which seems like overkill for a day trip. I guess I am specifically looking for something more modular as well so that I can throw smaller addon packs on the outside so I don't have to go digging through a main compartment to find something.

Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places?

hows about the tactical tailor 3 day pack, it has a water bladder sleeve inside the main compartment, velco tabbed covers on each side for custom tube routing, smaller second compartment and a smaller yet third compartment, plus Molle rails for adding on pouches if you need to.

Bushman, thank you for the suggestion. It helped me stumble across what I think is just what I'm looking for. Its on the more expensive end of things, but it looks like a quality piece of gear. The pack I found is the 3 Day Assault Bag from Mystery Ranch.

Yeah, its about $100 more than I was planning on spending. Looks like I'll be waiting a little longer to pick it up. On the plus side I've heard nothing but good things about Mystery Ranch.

There is a pack that I can think of right off the bat that you might like. It's actually intended as a 3 day pack and has a lot to offer for less than $100.

It's a T.O.P. Modular 3.0 Day Back Pack, ACU Digital Camo. You can copy and paste that and find a lot about them on google.

I hope that helps, J.

VRET, that is a seriously nice piece of kit. I like the INTERIOR molle webbing, thats something mine lacks....

When I manage to get one I'll pop back and give a review on it. I think it's fairly new so finding reviews has been on the difficult side.

What's wrong with the Camelbak Vantage 40?

It's got a 100 oz water bladder, a few internal and external pockets, full suspension harness with aluminum back stays, and 2440 cu in cargo capacity. Sure its not all "tactical" looking, but its still a great choice for a few days in the outdoors.

Whoops didn't look at your price range

I didn't really mention one. :p My line of thought is that if I can't afford the best tool for the job right now, then I'll just save and get it when I can. Although I'm starting to wonder if 2000cu/in of space for a 3 day/2 night trip is really enough space for someone who wants to take a tent, sleeping bag, some basic cookware and a couple changes of socks and all the other stuff I didn't mention. I think I need to work on my minimalistness. :D
