Truth be known, except in cases of dire emergency, I avoid all brick-and-mortars except the grocery store from Thanksgiving till the second week in January.

:) Viva le internet shopping!:)

As a Mather of fact, B/M store will be offered a lower retail price so they won't be too disadvantaged by W-M.

proud2deviate,

I've been asking some questions about the Wal-Mart Native and it appears that blade steel is S30V.

My wife bought me one for Christmas, after I pointed it out to her at Wal-Mart. She gave it to me early. It has a plain edge (I don't care for serrated blades, though they do have their uses) on a S30V steel blade. It is my first Spyderco and I really like it.

I also just got a native from walmart and it is also my first spyderco. I must say that I am very impressed with it. Great kinfe, very sharp, good lock and yes blade material is CPMS30V.

Spyderco's at Walmart, never thought I would see that. Hope they get more models Spyderco's rock and the native seems to be a great buy I love mine. Kas

the walmart i bought mine at didnt have them a week earlier...sign said ''new item'' so they may pop up anytime yes mine is plain edge s30v very spyderco sharp!! $39.95 plus tax

The thing I like about internet shopping at places like Newgraham is that even though I'm in cyberspace, Newgraham is still an actual B&M store somewhere. The fact that I'm both saving money and supporting "real" stores (as opposed to a gigantocorperation like Wal*Mart) makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I'm also lucky in the fact that there's a very good B&M store in town with prices equal to or only slightly higher than internet shops (and far less than retail), with the added advantage of handling the knife instead of making a decision based on pictures.

Sweet! I will have to get one of those.

Having read a few Wal-Mart Native threads lately, I just went over to the Wal Mart near my office to see if they'd have any.

Sure enough, Native, plain edge, CPMS30V.

I asked to inspect one, checked it out, perfect. Paid the man my ~40 bucks and away I went.

Sweet deal. This one has "user" written all over it.

I was thinking though, the way Wal-Mart displays their knives, how would the average joe know that the Native carried by Wal-Mart represents a pretty darn good deal?

I mean, if I'm just looking to buy a pocket knife, theere are plenty priced in that range that I might go for, yet none have the S30V featured. And if I'm just a dude off the street with little to no "knife knowledge", how will I know that?

Has Spyderco considered this? Sal? What do you think will draw buyers to the Native stocked by Wal-Mart when set among a horde of similarly priced, but sometimes lesser-quality pieces?

Just curious.

Glad I got mine though. Screaming good deal as far as I'm concerned.
