I can't activate my old username

Hi there

My old username on BFC is: Silver_Bali
Recently I changed my email address in my profile. I wanted this email address in my profile: agsn @ hotmail.com (if hotmail addresses aren't allowed, please use this: silver_bali @ ofir.dk )
The software said that I would recieve an email which I needed to confirm.
The next day the server was down, and I never recieved any email and now
when I log on I get a message saying "Thank you for logging in,
Silver_Bali". This message is immediately followed by this message:
Silver_Bali, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be
due to one of several reasons:

1.. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this
page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative
features or some other privileged system?
2.. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your
account, or it may be awaiting activation.

I can't view any forums and I can't post with my old profile. It's like the software is waiting for me to confirm the email change, but I can't because I never recieved the notification email. Can you help me restore my profile?
Thanks

P.S. My old username/profile is about 2 years old, so it's not a problem of just reregistering the username.

Looks like the Silver_Bali never used the email activation code to get the account reactivated. This happens when you use free email providers - sometimes they filter out mail from the forums as spam.

I can have the software send the mail again, but you'll need to check your bulk email folders to see if that came in, otherwise you won't be able to get it reactivated.

Thanks Spark, sounds like that might be the problem.
Please send the activation email to:
silver_bali@ofir.dk

You could send it to the hotmail address, but I'm unsure about what filter they might use and since that could be the problem I would prefer you use the email address above.
Thank you

I haven't recieved any activation email yet. Are you sure that the forum software is sending the mails to silver_bali@ofir.dk? I am starting to suspect that I may have put in a wrong email address and that might be the problem. I know that activation emails from BFC does get through to the above address because that's the email I used to register the Silver_bali2 username. Could you check that the activation emails are going out to the correct email address or maybe just activate the Silver_Bali username and I'll change the info myself once I can log in again?
Thanks
Silver_Bali

The activation email was sent to the address in the Silver_bali profile - silver_bali@themail.com. We cannot send the activation email to another account for security reasons. Can you log into that email account?

Yes, but recently I've been having problems with their service, the emails aren't getting through (and that goes for BFC activation emails as well as my private emails). Their email service has become very unreliable to say the least. There are even problems with sending mail from the account.
Maybe you could send the email to agsn@hotmail.com which was the email address I had registered with my old username before. That address is still good, even though I recieve tons of spam there.

I don't know what to do, I have login/password for my BFC account, I have login/password for my email account silver_bali@themail.com but it doesn't do me any good since I don't recieve the activation email sent to that address.
I can send you all of the above info if that would help you to verify that you are talking to the right person. It sucks that I decided to change the email address in my profile to this email provider and then find out that I'm not recieving my messages, especially because I've never even used the email in my BFC profile. The only reason for changing it in the first place was that the hotmail account was/is drowning in spam and I'm afraid I would miss an email sent from BFC.

P.S.
Spark, I truly appreciate you taking the time to work on this problem, I know there must be a million other things to tend to as the site admin/owner. I hope that the problem can be solved without too much trouble.

This is getting frustrating. When I returned from the holidays today I had an activation email waiting for me. "Great" I thought, but when I click the activation link I get another error message. I'm going to post the entire activation email here, I hope you can sort it out. My best bet is that this email may be the very first one that was sent out when I changed my email address. The email provider's messed up systems may have been sitting on this mail for a good week or so before the mail finally ended up in my inbox. That could explain why the activation link in this mail is no longer valid, because you sent out a new activation email, which probably had a new code in it, making the old one invalid...

As I said before you(Spark or other BFC Admin) can have my login/passwd for the silver_bali@themail.com account to verify my identity, but sending the activation emails to this address doesn't solve the problem, the email providers service is simply to unreliable. If you could send the activation email to the old email-address: agsn@hotmail.com I would be able to recieve the mail and activate my BFC account. This is the email address I used in my profile before switching to themail.com, the cursed email company (TM) :grumpy:

Here's the activation email

And this is why you should never use free email accounts for anything important to you. I'm sorry, but I don't have enough time to deal with this right this second. I'll try to get to it when I have a few free.

No problem, I appreciate your help and I know that it's a lot of work to be the admin of a large site like BFC. I'll use this new username for now, just post in this thread again when you've had time to look at this problem.
Thank you
Silver_Bali

Any progress on this?
I miss my old username, but if it's lost forever then I'll live with it. I'd just like to know if there's any hope that I'll be able to get it back.

Ok your two accounts have been merged. In the future, use a reliable email service. You will be able to log in with your Silver_Bali2 password, and that profile has replaced the Silver_Bali one

Thanks a million Spark!
Believe me, I'm through using an unreliable email provider, it's been a real pain.
