Nice group on knives. The addiction never ends. Got to have that new knife fix on a regular basis or suffer withdrawls.

It is crazy. I have discussions with myself and we agree that I have all the knives I could possibly need, yet it never fails that I see one more knife that I rationalize that I must have. It is definitely a sickness.

You don't choose knives, the knives choose you. Just let it wash over you...

Ha? You think you can't stop? This is just since the end of December.....

Or, at least that is what I am doing.

You list all those awesome knives, yet you post no pics. Come on we want the knife pron ;)

At least you can find a quorum inside your head, mr2Blue. Partisan bickering has me in gridlock.

I feel the same way, but I tend to go for more diversity than Glock. A few weeks ago, someone posed the question asking which 5 you would keep. I found that interesting, and very hard. I noticed some redundancy in my collection, so I broke it down to folders and fixed, then by blade length and style. Then I decided I "needed" more than 5.

I have caught my self coveting different sizes of the same design I like. I have two Harseys. I want another Lum. I usually carry two- a small gent folder, and a 3 or 4 inch folder. Part of my morning routine is trying to predict what my day might throw at me, and how I will slice it. I rarely use the gents, but the pocket feels light without a small knife.

Now I seem to be concentrating on fixed blades, different blade lengths and grinds, by custom makers. Still, my wife's shoes outnumber my knives, and I am yet to wonder if a knife matches my outfit. I bet they have higher resale, too.

I've noticed that some online communities encourage unhealthy behavior. I used to play world of warcraft. People are encouraged to spend more time on it. Essentially the more you immerse yourself and play, the cooler and more successful you are in the game.

Here everyone encourages each other to "get em both" When trying to decide which knife to get. Also lots of rationalizing and helping each other to feel ok about an obvious addiction. Making lots of jokes about it.

I've come to the realization that for some reason I will be addicted to something. I will spend too much time on something. Too much money. Too much care. Right now knives are it. The people here are really nice and alot of fun. I've learned alot about knives and other things on these forums.

However I think alot of us (myself included) have knife Greed. Greed is a form of desire. It is an exaggerated form of desire, based on overexpectation. Greed leads one to a feeling of frustration, disppointment, confusion, and alot of problems. One characteristic of greed is that although it arises from the desire to obtain something, it is not satisfied by obtaining it.

I pretty much stole that last paragraph from the Dalai Lama, from a book I am reading. It really rang true to me about my knife "hobby/addiction" :D

mr2blue,

You are just simply "TRUE BLUE". On knives that is. Don't ever stop. Just harness, channel, enjoy. Teach, mentor, educate. It's all good. Rest easy.

wow.. somebody's a Kershaw fan :)

Mr2blue:

1. you don't have enough spydercos.

2. you should do what I'm starting to do. I have plenty of folders now I'm really into getting fixed blades.
