With desire only and no practical need at the moment, I just purchased my third ESEE (an ESEE-4 DT MB) along with a fire steel from TKC. This is a dangerous addiction, especially if my wife finds out...

Will post pics upon arrival.

I have purchased a lot of stuff because I wanted to. No harm in that as long as the wife doesn't kill you.

just don't act suspicious, i.e. doing all the dishes tonight or telling her how much you love her.

It seems to me that buying ESEE knives is a very easy thing to do especially when you consider that we men are extremely weak when it comes to things that cut, poke holes, or explode. When you consider ESEE affordability in comparison to quality, just tell your wife that there really is no excuse to not buy them all....because you're getting a good deal. Wives understand good deals. I sure do hope though, that I beat my wife home from work for the next few days as I'm expecting some packages.

We are in total agreement there!

Not that I couldn't explain or justify it to her, I'd just rather not need to.

I like to use I needed it for work and this is the one thing that could save my life how could you not want me to get it. I save that one for very expensive items. The other is dont you remember I ordered it months ago and it was backordered. I guess they didnt charge me when we discussed it. I doubt my wife believes me but guess she figures since I have a story all worked out it's not worth arguing about. And of course you can admit to it and apologize. I was feeling bad about all my purchases last year I ended up getting mine a tag watch and diamond journey pendandt for christmas. That helps too.

I got home last night and there was a box on the porch -- wife asks if I bought something or won something.
I had no clue until I saw the return address -- I won the blade on a passaround.
her response is generally "can you afford it?" rather than "what do you need another knife for?"
I look at it this way - when asked "how many knives does a person need?" I ask back "how many pairs of shoes does a woman need?" (the correct answer to both being "at least 1 more!")

Kind of like the time my wife found out about the $2K AR I bought without her approval? That was fun. It helps a little if you're a LEO, then you pull the "it's safety equipment for work" card. And you can write it off on your taxes as such

I can always say I need it on the farm, but she knows I have plenty others. I like the tax deduction idea though.

Mmm tax deductible ESEE work gear ... you guys don't happen to make tractors do you??? ;)

Put the new knifes in the cellar. After a few weeks take it to normal use.
When she ask " DO you got a new knife  ) you can say
"Now its old. I bought it long time ago.

Works for me very fine, even with new machetes ;)

Not LEO, but I have, to date, been able to sell the guns to the wife using the "I buy them because I want to make sure that I am able to defend you and the kids when society finally collapses" card. At first she thought I was nuts....and I think she still does. However, she has finally realized that we haven't gone broke with my buying and selling so I guess she simlply humors me.

Again, it does help that she hasn't figured out how much I've spent or been around when I bring a gun, or knife, into the house.

Worked with my 6 ;)

Del,

The four is a great knife, it is my favorite. Hope the wife doesn't kill you. If she does, I just want you to know that I've always respected you, and that Adaman doesn't need another four; but I do.

God bless,
Adam
