I got a VERY BIG SURPRISE in the mail

Awhile back I got a p.m from a fellow member asking for my address, because he had something he wanted to send me.
Well, last week I was sitting here on the 'puter and the rural mail carrier came to the house. The wife answered the door, and signed for the box. She asks me, What did you buy now ? :D
I had to think for a minute, but knew I hadn't bought anything recently.

So she hands me the box, and when I looked at the address, I knew who it was from...

When I opened the box and saw what was inside, I was literally speechless.
As I sat and admired the contents, I still couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Anyway, inside the box were two incredible knives, a nice postcard showing the area that this member lives, which looks to be a beautiful area that I would like to see someday, and also a book with pictures of wildlife from that area.
The person that sent me this package asked that I not mention his name, so I didn't take a picture of the book and postcard, because for members that have spent some time here, that would have probably given away who it was.

Here are a couple quick pics of the knives. A mint condition Schrade Walden 881 with the original tube, and a mint condition 219.

Again, to the person who sent this terrific package, thank you very, very much. I almost have a box ready to send out, that will be heading your direction soon :D Still trying to find one particular item that I'm looking for

Awesome gesture, and some very nice knives. Those Schrades are definitely starting to grow on me. I have found there to be a number of extremely generous members on these forums.

Can't believe that's $7.50!

You are right, there are some very generous people that hang out here in our little sub-forum. Its amazing, a few years back, I never would have thought it possible to develop friends online, but I was wrong....

It would be great to be able to meet these people in person.

These old Schrade Waldens are terrific knives. Every time I look at one, it reminds me of my grandad, and going to the old hardware store when I was a kid.

Wonderful, thoughtful gifts-enjoy! Thanks certainly go to the gifter-good taste in knives etc!

Anonymous is a mighty fine and giving person! Those are a couple of fine looking Schrades, too! Congrats!

I always knew that the folks here were a huge cut above the 'other' forums.

Very well done!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

All very true. I have a box with some goodies I'm getting ready to send his direction, just gotta locate one more thing

Congratulations to the giver and the receiver as well! Those are a couple of gorgeous knives! I have a Schrade Old Timer I inherited from my grandfather. Those Schrade Waldens are truly a cut above. Use (or ogle) them in good health.

Congrats! Some of the fellers on this sub forum are really generous. May the good karma continue to weep from one member to another.

Very nice friend for sure! That 881 is a dandy. $7.50 - That puts it right about 1970 for a mfg date. The 219 was $4.75

Amazing isn't it:D I have to wonder what the price would be today, if they were still in business, and still making the same knife.

On the post card he sent, he said he hoped I would get lots of use out of them. And to honor that, the 881 went in pocket the day I received them. It has already earned a special spot in my meager collection, as will the 219 when it comes time for its turn in pocket. My beloved red bone Case knives have been put back in the stall for the time being, and its time to make some memories with a new friend
