After years of resisting the change to 'hi-tech' pocket knives. Being somewhat of a traditionalist I stuck with "Old Timers" such as the stockman bearhead etc I bought a smith & wesson cuttin' horse straight tanto to try out. What have I been missing. I know this is a 'cheapie' but I am addicted to it. Used it all morning opening cartons etc cutting leather and even trimming my porterhouse for lunch. Now I want a 'good-un' can anyone make a recommendation. I like the shape of the cuttin' horse tanto (I would call it a reverse tanto), the liner lock and the clip.

PS I will keep my old timers.

Well, I won't suggest the "Cuttin' Horse" but if you like a tanto sort of shape, look at the Benchmade 940 series.

See if you can find a production Emerson CQC8. It came bundled with a Surefire C2 flashlight. The CQC8 is one of the better made Emersons. Do a google search on Emerson CQC8 to find a dealer.

A BM 940 would be great, they are AWESOME knives for the price. If you don't want to spend that much, the Kershaw Leek has a somewhat similar blade shape (just not a tanto) andn is a very sweet little knife.
