i just got a Atlantic salt plain edge. which is my first decent knife. i intend to use her as my E.D.C. Any one got any tips to make her last - stuff that u all know but just don't think about , also any recomdations on learning to sharpin her..... thanks for your input in edvanced

Make her last?!?
Truthfully, it would be hard to kill her.

Just keep in mind that it is an unlined FRN handle, so avoid side-to-side prying with the blade.

Otherwise, the Atlantic Salt is virtually worry-free:
It will not rust.
It has rivet-pins so the only screw to adjust is the pocket-clip screw.
It's a sheepsfoot blade, so I don't think that you need to worry about breaking the tip.
And that long straight-edge blade makes sharpening a breeze--I suggest getting a Spyderco Sharpmaker if you don't already have one.

I EDCed an Atlantic Salt for about 4 months and I loved it--and still do.
But I recently bought a Pacific Salt and I'm giving it a try for a while.

Cheers,
Allen.

thanks alenc , the unlined FRN is the only niggiling thing about her, i gues i'll just have to keep it in mind  . but as you said , she's "built" :D .... ha ha ha .

I don't have a sharp maker, but thats next on me list . It cames as a full set right? Also sharpen to 40 degrees or is that BM?

Is there any oil for the pivit point that u recomend ? . I was just concerned with the FRN and oils . It came lubed but didn't ask.

i've only had her for a coppla days but dang, u can't beat 4 inches of straight edge and a hole that you can realy get your thumb into :D

thanks for your time - Wack

I predict that you're gonna really like that knife.

My Shapmaker came with the two gray coarse stones and the two white fine stones, and the case and brass protection rods.

I sharpen about all of my Spydercos on the 40 degree holes and they get razor sharp with little effort.

To be honest, I have never lubed any of my Spyderco FRN knives, and I've never had any problems at all.
And it reduces the amount of lint and gunk around the pivot.

Enjoy your knife,
Allen.
