Caution, warning, alert, notice: Complaints about boxes, EKI boxes, will result in an uprising of the loyal to challenge the veracity, truthfulness, completeness, seriousness, manliness, Godliness, patriatism, loyalty of the complainer. It will likely get you labeled a wining, exaggerating, pissypants, picky, perschnickety, TROLL. It hasn't happened to me as I sort of learned from the mistakes of those before me.
Besides, the quality and condition of the boxes is part of the aura and mistique of Emerson and the toughness of the overall ambiance.
Deal with it!

Being the new guy (and also being scared of Don) I obviously hate like heck to be the odd one out, however my one and only Emerson box is pretty near perfect and it's travelled all the way over here to the UK! Jeez, I kind of feel cheated now... I wonder if I can send the box back to Emerson and have them crush it?

GuyInBlack, if your Emerson box isn't crushed, then it's safe to assume that it's counterfeit.
Bandit, the crushed boxes are quite typical. There ARE rarer varieties such as mangled, tattered, shredded, and demolished,... ...although demolished is only currently available through the custom shop and the wait for it is upwards of 9 months.

Just so everyone is aware . . . the EKI "Crushed" boxes are a feature. And much sought after I'm told.
To the best of my knowledge, the only model to come with crushed boxes as a standard feature was the SOCFK.
I believe this is an option now from the EKI "Custom/Production" Shop. (While there is a wait, it's well worth it)
It should be noted that Eric has reported recieving two other knives with crushed boxes, however I believe these may have been crushed on the secondary market, not by EKI.

There must be something strange going on here (as if no-one hasn't said that before on here).
With all the Emersons I own, I have only 1 crushed box, all the others are near perfect . . . . or at least they were till I tore them open to get at the knife inside !

What a month! Received several Emersons in pristine boxes. Disgusted, I sent them back, with knives, to have the problem rectified. Just yesterday I received them all back in proper condition: boxes crushed (one was even shredded!), pivot pins loosened, liners cut down for sloppy locking, bushings removed to allow blade play, and scales removed and replaced with G-10 that overhangs the liners significantly. I am a happy man now!
Customer service was lousy. Talking to them, they flat out refused to do what I asked, 5 times, until I threatened to never buy another knife from them!
