Lately, I've been having trouble with LEO about my kobun. Our laws state its legal to carry a hunting/fishing knife. As you might have guess, kobun doesn't really fall into that class. Which is okay, cause I was hopeing to get something a little smaller, less threatening..tougher. Reading threads on the forums, I took a look at the Becker Camp knife. I like the looks. Its simple, black, and looks like the right shape, and everything I need. Its smaller blade then the kobun, and more common. LEO won't be so afraid if it looks the part.

Though I know nothing about becker knives, what can people tell me about them? About this knife? Is it tough? Stand up to hard use? I work in a kitchen, have to do a lot of silly things. Definatly need a knife for..wanted something tough, that can take it. I don't think my kobun can handle it all, and I don't want them to actually get me for concealed weapon this time around. Tried once, failed. They don't like to fail much.

Go do a search in the Knife Reviews and Testing Forum and the Camillus Forum, there's a wealth of testing and information in there. Bottom line, they're very good blades at even better prices. Plus Camillus has truly outstanding customer service in my experience.

Lhet, I think you must be referring to something other than the Arclite. It's made of 420HC, just about the most rust resistant cutlery steel there is. It's also available in D2 from AG Russell, and although it's not stainless, it isn't really a carbon steel either. The Becker line is made of high carbon steel though, so it will rust if not properly cared for.

I own the Becker Patrol Machete (BK6), Combat Bowie (BK9), and Crewman (BK10). They have all proven to be tough, reliable, and practical knives. They would be a fair deal at twice what Camillus asks for them.
