Hi guys, I'm brand new around here. I found this board looking for pre •110• Buck knives. I read a couple threads and had to register. A real nice group yall have here. Well here's my spill.
I lost my 78 •110•. I replaced it w/ an 850->. The 154cm steel is really nice except it'll get a few rust dots on it fairly quickly and its not really a do everthing knife. I have a 110/ and really don't care for the 420hc on it. I don't mind the 420hc on my other Bucks just not the 110. My •110• Was my do every/anything knife.420hc doesn't hold up like the 440 does. I'm looking forward to swapping wits with yall. Thanks for letting me share.

Welcome aboard exiled! Sorry to hear about the loss of a cherished knife, but you might consider browsing the bay and biding your time... those 2 ditters do show up there from time to time.

Welcome to the forum Exiled.
Might go to Buck website and look at building you a custom 110 with an S30V blade. Their website is listed here at the top.
And check out the Bucks for sale threads. The two dotters show up there some as well as on ebay.

The best choice for you seems to be a ebay purchase of a good condition two dot. It was one of the best knives Buck ever built. Macassar Ebony, 440c, superb quality. As good as it got really.

I went (am going) through the same thing. The experts here are very generous with their knowledge and don’t seem perturbed by my newbie questions and enthusiasm. I hope you like it here as much as I do.

Thanks guys for the warm receiption. Oh I spend alot of time at the Buck websites lol. My wife hates it too. Right now I have my eye on a CSAR_T folder in 154cm. The reason I dont have a knife built in s30v steel is because w my experance its a a harder steel than 440c but it rusts alot easier than 154cm. I really use/abuse my knives, I can use the hardness but I dont like having to keep an emery cloth and 3 n 1 oil around me. I raise cattle and in the grain busyness. I dont get rained out and need a blade that can hold up to abuse and keep an edge. I chose the 850 over the csarT because I had never owned a steel with a single bevel.
FlatLander you really get it. There will never be another knife like the double dots. I really cant believe that for the price of steel that Buck cant build 440c steels at the same price of s30v, 154cm or ats-34 and have a much better knife. Although I would like to have a 110 wrapped in the G10 scales. Those are handles that grip your hand back. lol
axesbold yes i really like it around here. The guys really try to answer questions and for the lack of better wording has alot of patience. I read a couple of threads where some hot flaming would have been going on in other forums. In the end the guys where able to get the point across. My wife keeps running me off the site. lol. She done caught me 2ce in the shop on here. hehehe

Watch the 110s on the e-Bay for a while to get a feel for it and see how things go.

You'll see some nice Two-Dotters and every once in a while one will go cheap.

You can also try for one that looks rough but appears tight and sound otherwise--one like that can be had cheap and sent to Buck for a cheap refurb that will make it look like new.

They work magic with old knives......pure magic.

(Actually, you can do that yourself if you have the skill and a little time.)

We see examples almost weekly on this forum.

:)

Exile, My wife gave up with me and my Buck buddies. You can pick that model up at Gun shows as well. DM

Lol David I hear that.my wife has given up on me and my bow and going hunting. She actually joined me. She says I'm going to wear this blackberry out checking this site out. Bahaha. I haven't been able to find one at a guy show yet. I've found some on ebay but I'm so worried about buying from ebay.

Always buy with a credit card through Paypal.

If things go south you can always do a chargeback.

Don't worry......be happy.

;)

I have bought 3-2 dots, 2 pre-dots and1-3 dot on E-bay as well as several Buck USA fixed blades and each has exceeded expectations. I have never paid more than 50 bucks.
