Anyone else ever miss the simple stuff? Like this old fixed blade military knife. wood handles, no bells, no whistles.

But then I cut something with my small Sebenza, and then I don't anymore.

:)

Professor.

Actually I don't miss it at all. I've got one ;) Well, I have a MoD issue one not a Wilkinson prototype.

The professor's right. That particular knife is great as a sharpened pry bar/beating stick/spare tent peg, but for actual slicing, I can think of thousands of better knives.

I remember seeing one of those at a local knife shop several years ago...the handles were roughly shaped bare wood, the blade had a wire edge on that must have been bent over to one side 1/8". They may be a "diamond in the rough" but they're definitely pretty rough.

Ha. That knife would be a good counterpoint to the vogue knife flavor-of-the-month.

Hey, it wouldn't replace a SAK, but it was produced as a survival knife, so I don't think slicing tomatoes like a Ginsu was a priority. :)
