I need a sheath

Hello all! Many years ago when my father was serving in the British Military in Malaya he has given a Gurka khukri. However, there was no sheath for it (the khukri had been "recovered" in the jungle). That being said, I'm wondering if anyone out there can help me with a sheath. I have no problem sending the khukri out for a fitting. Thanks in advance.

Johan,

I know of a scabbard maker that makes scabbards in the traditional Nepali fashion. His name is Terry Sisco. I can't remember offhand what his web address is, but here is his e-mail, T_Sarki@excite.com. I heard he does good work. He should be able to help you out.

Johan,

I may be able to help you. I'm eagerly awaiting completion and delivery of my WWIII Khukuri. This unit comes with both a traditional Khukuri sheath and a Kydex rig from EdgeWorks. I'll have no use for the traditional sheath, so it's yours if you want it. I should have it within the next couple of weeks.

I can't guarantee a perfect fit as I don't know the size of the blade that you have. But, if it's close to the standard WWII size, or a bit smaller, the odds are good that it will work just fine.

Johan,
If you decide to go for a custom sheath, here is Terry Sisco's webpage with pix of some of his work. He's finishing up a custom scabbard for an old khukuri of mine now, and I think he does outstanding work.

ARGH!! I'm an idiot! Blackdog, thank you very much for your offer but I just realized that I have a WWIII coming too. I totally forgot about the leather sheath. Thanks everyone for their help, if the WWIII sheath doesn't fit, I'll check out the sites people have mentioned. Again, thanks and DOH!

Johan: If you want to "sheath" your khukuri early, I have a variety of sheaths sitting around in my spare parts bin. If you send me your khukuri plus $15.00, I can try to re-sheath it for you. Of course, if you REALLY want style, send the khukuri along with $42.00 and I'll throw it in the next batch of WWIIIs - you'll get a kydex sheath a-la WWIII.

Craig, thanks a lot. I think I'll wait and see if my "extra" WWIII sheath fits it, if not I'll send it to you and see if you can't find a sheath that fits. Ya know I gotta say, I've been on BF for a while and this has got to me the friendliest and most helpful forum going.

If it doesn't fit I'll send it to you. It's been without a sheath for almost 40 years, it can wait a couple of months
