I received a strange proposal about a knife I am looking for.

I would like to know if I could post it here to know if there is someone trying to make dirty businesses, or it is only I am too sospiciuos.

Please let me know how I have to behave tyo follow a proper "netiquette".

I think its OK to post your question here. Do NOT post the name or BF handle of the person who emailed you. Edit that out of the proposal. Then everything should be Okey-dokey.

If the proposal is from a forum member and you are suspicious, you may request from that person some references of other members he/ she has done business with to help verify if they are legitimate. It is not foolproof but is at least a good indicator. Good luck.

Paracelsus,

my problem is to not hurt an honest person who could recognize his offer.

I know it is very hard, because if I don't write anything, I can't have an answer, but I don't want to hurt someone.

Nakano,

yes, I could try to ask for some references.

But I don't think I'll accept his proposal. I posted this message here only to discover if there is a way to warn other Forumites, without damaging an honest person. It means, if this guy is trying to be dishonest, I would like to give a warning, so nobody will fall in a trap. If he is honest, I don't want to give him a bad name just because I am paranoid.

I can't quite figure out what is going on here. Why don't you email Cougar or me or someone you trust here at BF and ask their opinion. If the deal that is proposed makes you uncomfortable, don't do it.

I don't understand. You are trying to warn people on the forums about something that hasn't happened. You have not been burned by this person and do not know if you would be burned by this person. Why don't you e-mail this person and ask for permisson to ask for refrences. If he is on the up and up he should not mind doing this. Good luck and I hope everything works out o.k.

I don't even understand why you wouldn't post his name. If he hasn't done anything to be ashamed of why would he object to having the whole thing posted, whatever it is? The whole point of this forum is the sharing of information, whether it's good, bad, or middlin'. Let everybody know the facts and everybody can make up their own minds. Dishonesty can only exist in the dark ... honesty thrives in the light, and welcomes it....

If whoever made this "strange proposal" to Falcenberg sees this thread, why don't you post? If you have nothing to hide, that is....
