Whatever you do, avoid the gallery and custom knife forums at all costs! If you start poking around there you're gonna be broke by xmas :D

Christmas?!?!?!?

Bet he doesn't make it to the end of the month. :D

... and that's only 6 days away... :p

I live in Eugene... Haven't been to the show in a couple years, this could be a bad one. I think last time I got out with only 80 bucks or so down, and I was a broke student then.... :D I won't be so fortunate this time.

Being a broke student is a blessing and a curse when it comes to knives. You don't have enough cash to get every cool toy, but you do not have a lot of expenses either usually. This means that whenever you get extra cash you can spend it on knives. As a "responsible adult" you tend to come across cash more readily, but it often "should" be used for other things. That is when willpower comes into it. If only I could find a sugar momma with a cutlery fetish I would be set.

I'm a student as well.
Its only 4 months into the year.
I have found a way to spend $770 on knives, and I still owe $400 towards another knife. And I just lined up another $300 knife to buy.
So that makes $1470 in knives I'll be spending this year. And unfortunatley for my bank account, BM is coming out with more stuff this year...that are MUST HAVES.

It gets much worse when you start selling older parts of your collection to buy some of the new cool knives.

I have only 4 good knives, and two cheap ones.
I'd sell my cheap ones. Selling both only gets me like $40 bucks so that doesn't help me much.
I'd NEVER sell my good ones.
Good knives:
BM 42S
BM 31S
BM 43DM
BM 46A-01

Cheap knives:
Skeletonized Jaguar Balisong
CRKT M16

My friend, I thought much the same thing once. Then I sold my Benchmade AFO, 4100, 9200 etc. and bought Microtechs. Then, the Microtechs gave way to customs. I have sold Busse Battle Mistresses, Vallottons, Centofantes, Sittons and many others that individually exceed the value of your young stash....only to use the money in search of more expensive knives.

You have never paid more than a thousand dollars for a knife I see. It seems like a ridiculous concept now doesn't it? Well, I have done it many times.

You have just begun drinking my friend. Microtechs are marijuana. Cocaine and heroin now seem distant, but they can creep up faster than you will ever dream.

Enjoy those Benchmade knives. But NEVER say NEVER!
