I think Benchmade should come out with a nice stainless steel balisong with some wood inserts with a blade under 4 inc .The only thing I dont like about my model 42 and the other new knives is ther too light for serious flipping ,ther nice to carry but I need a heavy balisong like the pacific style balisong to flip .I did recomend the 3 inc bali before on here and now its coming in dec so they must read this forum ! Also Benchmade think "BRASS handle bali"

1) I suspect they will be coming out with new SS handle knives, as that's the best way to leverage their investment in the new handle making process of the 49's. Could see it outside the Model 49's one day.

2) You can keep the brass. I don't mind a heavier bali, and the Monarch is up there (or anything by Mer). But I'll pass on the brass. Way too much maintenance to make it look nice. Had a custom BM Brass Utility once, and spent way too much time with the Brasso to make it stop looking like sh*t.

I think Benchmade should ask my opiniun on the types of balisongs they should make:p . That way a new bali will be out monthly for the rest of our lives:D :D :D . But serious, they are listening to us and that is good.

The problem with light Bali's can be rectified. Rather than buy a new heavier one try adding weight to the exsisting one. If your handle is a skeleton type you can simply add a slice of .357 or smaller calibur 'bullet slice' this takes skill with a dremel tool and varying the length from the hilt. Be carefull though just a bit to far into the handle will cause the blade not to close fully. I have not personaly done this as all my Balis are stainless with wood insert handles. But have held and 'Played' with one that was weighted....smooth:cool:

It would be nice if BM gets into some SS handles TJ...and I agree with Tony...it could happen pretty soon if the trend of listening to us continues.

Blade :) ...I'd rather have BM consult me on how much they charge me than what models they make  ..., but one a month would be nice huh?

"Hunters seek what they [WANT].., Seekers hunt what they [NEED]"

What Is a bullet slice ?? IS that a piece of a bullet case or the head ? I dont think a .357 case cut down and glued to balisong handles would make it much heavier .Maybee you could cut down a .357 head but how would you hold it in place ? This is a new idea Iv never heard before .

No, it was pretty common back in the old days. It wasn't unheard of to pound soft slugs (bullet heads, lead sinkers) into the handle holes to make them heavier. They come right out with a punch. Yes, it was commonly done to the SS handles as well, just because some people think they were a little too light. Coming from brass handles, I can see why.

But if you pound lead bullets or sinkers into your handles then you get a lead toxic balisong you might not wana flip

i hate heavy balis. i have a coulpe of jags that must be about 2 million pounds for each handle. i feel that the lighter it is the easier it is to do stuff with. throwing a knife with heavy ass handles and a really sharp blade in the air and catching it just scares me a little. ya see my 47 manipulates so smooth and calm-like. i can even hear angels singing in the background when i hold it. for me the lighter a knife is the more i feel like i'm in control. instead of the knife flipping me i flip the knife.

side news:
i'll be getting a 43 for my birthday, which is TODAY! the big "one-eight". :D :D

These are all good ideas and I'm sure that BM is thinking about all of these and many others.

You need to keep in mind that BM is a business and they can't persue ideas just because they're cool or fun. Many knife companies have gone bankrupt doing that. Keep in mind also that bringing out a new product requires investment. Changing the handle length is especially expensive since the handle is cast and casting requires moulds which are expensive to make.

So, I'm quite certain that BM has some exciting new things in the pipeline for us. Just don't expect it all at once.

I think benchmade is the bomb company. They've listened to us and have brought to market numerous products that we all rant and rave about. They haven't let me down yet, and I don't expect them too.;)

I was asking just last month about smaller bali's, and bingo, out comes the 31. It's great, and I have one on order.

Not if you used inert lead as would have been the practice. Still, that was about the same time lead poisoning started to became an issue. I personally didn't, but a lot of my friends sure did.

Either way, I'd stay away from the brass handle ones. So, does your SWAT tarnish into a dull sheen like mine?

Not legally, in this country. Yes, you can own a bali, vote for the next President, sign up for the darft, but can't drink legally in public establishments. What a country. And if anyone gives me any sh*t about this, know this: my birth year 1964, went through hell to drink. Turn 18, they up it to 19. Turn 19, they up it to 21. So there..........

the only thing i hate about being 18 is signing up for the draft. if they bring it back inlight of the new events that have happened, i don't think i'm gona be jumping up and down praising the country for sending me to afganistan (sp?). other than that it's great.

Don't worry, you've got about 3 million people ahead of you. First Active duty personnel, then Reserves, then Inactive Reserves, then draft. Then if it's done like the last time, the odds would be x:365 (with x being the number of selections). Enjoy your freedom.

you can't even drink beer from you're 18? you can here.. but we can't own balis, though...
