Yep, it's been a sad, sad day.

SNARK!!!

Just kidding.

I did dye the peanut butter scales though. I also dyed the stock 16 sheath. Pics on that later.

I used the Dark Brown rit dye.

I put the scales in a pan and poured ALMOST boiling water and the rit dye over them. Let them sit for about 20 mins, took them out, washed them off, dried them, and WHALA!! Just like that...

EDIT:

If anybody wants some OD green scales, I could do it for you for free.

Not even asking for return shipping costs.

All I ask is that you shoot me a E-MAIL and I will give you my address. that simple.

I don't think I'm gonna get banned for saying that, someone please tell me if I will so I can remove it ASAP.

thanks.

Here's pics o' the scales.

It came out sorta a dark O.D. Green. It's almost the same color as my off duty EDC pack.

I need to do that to my PB scales. I sure dont like the factory color much LOL.

That OD looks good, I need to go buy some RIT dye

Hmm, looks like I'm an idiot, at least about what can and can't be dyed....

interesting...i didnt like the color of the ones that were on my BK17 from the factory either, so i just swapped em out with the set of blacks that came with.

Very nice. I'll have to try that when I get mine. Thanks for the info!

I did the same and I too really liked how they came out. I will have to pass on the sheath though... :barf: Kinda kills the OD camo look.my 45 carbine and green BK17.jpg

Not sure how I missed this one. That turned out pretty cool.

That worked nicely. I'm going to do attempt #2 when my set of scales shows up. I used RIT dark green and the dye took super-fast.

Okay so you got a funky OD green by dying the PB scales Dark brown??? How did that happen? I would love some OD scales but I'd like them to be actualy OD green so if that's something you can do I'd be very appreciative. I wonder what color you'll get if you actually use OD or OD-ish dye?...maybe orange;)
