Well it looks like the bottom is dropping out of the Mayo's.

Ever since the Buck's 172, the real Mayo's are getting harder to sell over $700.00 I paid $850.00

As normal after I buy no one eles is collecting.

Plus the knife market is very soft now.

I wouldn't worry about it. The economy is soft all over right now. Unless, you are pressed for cash, I wouldn't worry about the current price of Mayos because they will rise again assuming that the TNT maintains its reputation.

First off, dont buy a knife depending on the value of it to increase. That is a very hit/miss proposition.

Second, do you like the knife? Are you going to use it? Do you feel that you like the knife enough that the $850 was a good enough deal for it?

Now I dont know for sure, but it has seemed to me before that after a collaboration comes out demand for some knives will pick up. Whether or not this will be the case with Mayos will remain to be seen. But once again remember he only charges around $500 depending on what one you have, and anything over that is purely the market driving up the price.

Since Tom doesn't now, or will likely ever again take new orders, the aftermarket is all there is really. Mayos arent the only knives selling cheap right now, it's across the board as far as i can tell, seems nobody has any spare cash to spend on high dollar knives, might have something to do with the fact that many of us has 10's, if not hundreds of thousands in the stock market and many of us lost most, if not all of it.

What makes you think that? Like all makers he'll get caught up at some point and even if it's not public knowledge he'll start taking orders again.

Personally, I think the prices his knives have been getting in the past have been driven up by a feeding frenzy. People willing to pay those prices have gotten what they want and people who bought them at Tom's prices or less sold them and have made money.

I personally was on the selling end having owned at least 4 Mayo's in the past - they were great knives for Tom's price and are still great knives but not worth what people are asking IMO.

I told a friend of mine about 7 months ago to sell his Mayo if he was going to, just because I felt the high prices they were getting would not last forever.

i did a trade about 2 yrs ago(w/larry at bladeart) had my choice either a mayo TNT (one of several models) or a darrel ralph mini maxx talonite w/CF handles, took the ralph, at the time the ralph was a little higher IIRC, a few months ago i noticed what mayos were running and couldnt believe it, $800++!!

look at emersons, the incredible mark up on them for years now, when will they go down????(prob about a month after i pay toooo much for one lol)

but ya never know, i guess, i never make money on knives, gen'ly break even (maybe lol)but have a lot of fun,
