From knifemaker/scrimshander to shaman.

I completed a scrim tonight for a gentleman who is going elk hunting in two weeks. The scrim was of an elk, his request, of course.

I had thought that scrimshaw was just a decorative art form but having a knife made with the picture of what you are going hunting for seems a throwback to a more primative time. I wonder how many other hunters commission art work depicting their quarry.

Photo shoot is tomorrow and I should be able to post them tomorrow night.

I think I figured out this shaman stuff . . . you are saying that if I request a knife from you with a scrim of ANOTHER one of your knives on it, I'll get two for the price of one???

maybe that one with the meteorite bolsters you did a while back . . . oh well, I can dream!

I guess it would work out if your were going hunting for that type of knife.

If it really works I wouldn't like to be the rabbit hunter with a grizzley bear scrimmed on his knife.
