looked at brownings web page, like the new ice storm...
how good are they?...who makes them for browning? what is vg10? any feedback would be great:p

I kind of disagree......
Make your own decision,
I don't think too many of us have handled them yet.
Play with it at the store, see how it locks up and see how smooth it is when it opens and closes. Take you time playing with it.
You never know, sometimes lesser known make real winners.

As much as those brands are awesome, we have been selling the Ice storm for several months and I have to say, These Browning knives are nice!!! Paul

Ok, I'm a lefty, so my opinions may be somewhat biased. On the other hand, righties sometimes want or need to use a knife left handed also, so here goes. The two things I dislike about that particular knife are the liner lock, which makes it more difficult to close left handed, and the fact that they say the clip is "integral". At the least, this means it can only be set up for RH carry, at the worst, it means permanently attached, so you cannot remove it if you perfer clipless carry or need to repair or replace it. If you can, also look at the Spyderco Native II, Benchmade Mini-Griptilans, and CRKT Hawk D.O.G. before making up your mind. All of these are full ambi, have removable clips, and are at about the same price point as the Browning, and all have received favorable reviews here.

VG-10 is a super steel it is wonderful and it holds an edge very well. Spyderco and Fallkniven are strong users of the steel as is AlMar.

As for who makes it for Browning who know's. Ods are if they make their own guns they make their own knives. They most likely by VG-10 in bar stock pre heat treated and machine it down to the shape they want then give the edge the profile they want. The linner lock has been made for years so any monkey outfit can make one. The only maby hard part is machining the Aluminium scales. I have no personal experience with Browning products so I can not say for certain but it most likely is a decent piece. Now it is not a Benchmade, Spyderco, Emerson, AlMar or MOD but it can do the job. All depends on what that job is.

Like Smith & Wesson? :D

Lots of knife companies don't make their own knives, or contract out some and manufacture the others.

Many companies brand lines of knives or clothing or watches without having any interest in the manufacture, other than specifying price and hoping for honest quality.

Browning has been around a while as a knife name, but I can't imagine they make them alongside the firearms, any more than they make the hunting clothes with their logo on them. They've had some decent knives, but of course they don't get the following here that even the cheapest products of more popular knife companies do.

VG-10 is great. Check out the knife, and if it fits your hand comfortably, and the action seems good, go for it.

BTW, it never hurts to post a link to a knife you're talking about. Everyone may not picture the knife right away -- I never heard of the "Ice Storm" myself -- and a web page can have a lot of good information to get a conversation going.

Look at that! It's a very good-looking knife! I like the handle shape and the blade is a simple, classic design, too.

Another site says: "Pocket clip is integral with the stainless steel locking liner so it won't come loose and it fits deeper in your pocket." That sounds strange :)

Depending on how well it's bolted together, and how well the pivot works, this could be a very good choice at that price.

......That Shaft is one Bad Mutha F*****
SHUT YO MOUTH! Just talkin''Bout Shaft!

I have one VERY WELL MADE KNIFE! I Think I paid $42 bucks for it Maybe $46 with shipping. The blade is an all around good patern. It will accomplish a wide variety of chores. The liner lock is strong and no slop what so ever. The edge holding quality of VG-10 is very good. I have sharpened it once and stropped it and it's like a razor. You don't even feel it grab as it cuts something like paper. Warning if you don't like pocket clips, This one is NOT removeable. It is however one of the best designed clips I have ever used The whole knife is in your pocket none of it sticks up. Lefty's for sure won't like it. It is on the smaller side of "tactical", (I hate that word) Knives. Fit and finish of all the parts is exceptional. $42 dollars well spent!

I Love Steel you should ask him where he got the name from it is not from the famous Black MAN. Our shaft is white. The hint.

Pvt Joker, Pvt Cowboy, Pvt Snowball you all should know where that comes from then you can understand where shaft comes from.

I work with him so I know.

At that price I would buy one. I'm not really in the market right now, but from looking at the pics I like it and you can't go wrong with VG-10.
