Idea Proposal: A SIFU with a "wave" opening.

I think the ultimate fighting/self-defence folder would be a tip-down carry REKAT SIFU with a license from Emerson knives to incorporate the "wave" opening.

Alternatively, I thought someone could design an aftermarket "wave"-type hook which would be mounted on the rear spine of the blade. How could it be clipped on though? Perhaps on the thumbstud?

Me thinks it's a great idea!
It would however NOT work in tip-down configuration.

But the idea is great

My knives!

When I draw my Sifu from my pocket, I find myself gripping at the buttends. I need to re-grip the handle sliding my hands toward the blade by two inches or around for the adequate "using" position. Therefore Sifu is no quick drawing knife to me, with or without wave feature on its back.

Do anyone have same problem, or is it only me? If somebody can tell me how to draw Sifu into the right (ready to use) grip position, I'll really appreciate and will come to want a wave on my Sifu!

Currently Sifu is my daily carry, but not for self defense by the reason.

The answer is to ditch the clip and either throw the whole thing deep into your otherwise-empty front pocket, or run a proper belt sheath.

In front-pocket mode, there's an interesting tactical advantage: if you're in an area where you "don't like the looks of your surroundings", there's nothing strange looking about standing around with your hands in your pockets. You can have the Sifu properly pre-gripped for a snapopen draw that's fast as hell because there's no "grip shift" needed.

This trick is favored by those who carry "mouseguns" in that location

. But at close range, the Sifu is if anything a far more potent device than a small .25ACP semi-auto

.

I think if I *was* enthralled with the idea of a clip, I'd want one on the pivot pin end. At that point the draw sequence would be similar to my belt-slide sheath, pictured at: http://www.ninehundred.com/~equalccw/blades.html

Jim, thank you for the tips. The front pocket trick reminds me of the days when only "tactical" folders were the balisongs with no pocket clips. Still I love them much, but I opt to modern folders as daily carry for convenience, and easiness. Sifu is one of my favorites because it's thin, and lightweight for its blade size.

I'll continue my technique of quick drawing. But if in more critical area, I'll tuck the Sifu in my pocket gripped in my hand. Thanx again for advice!
