If You Could Design Your Own Spyderco

I was wondering if we could start up a thread of what each of us would think the perfect folder if they could design/build their own spyderco.

For EDC:
Mine would be a Delica, but with an S30V flat ground blade, dual ss liners and black G10 handles. Also it would be arranged for Tip up, reversible, deep carry with brushed ss plain wire clip, attached to the very end of the knife.

For Heavier use, or as a Tactical folder:
I'd want a G10 police with old style G10 handles(but with ss liners on both sides) a flat ground S30V blade, lockback, and a top mounted, reversible, deep carry with brushed ss plain wire clip.

Or,

How about a Military as is, but instead of being a G10 liner lock, how about as an anodized TI framelock, and with Tip up carry.

Maybe some other folks are more creative but if I could design 3 knives that's what they'd be.

A Military with either a titanium frame lock or the compression lock and a fully reversable/ambi clip..

A Perrin with a micarta handle.

A reissue of the Starmate with S30V and a reversable/ambi clip.

Aloha!

I'd use the Khalsa handle shape, one scale TI, the other FRN...then I'd put a Jester blade in it. Clip carry via wire type of a softer material so you could carry it tip up, down , lefty, righty, sideways, by simply bending it!

:D KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

I would throw the Para blade into the Delica handle, but use the texturing on the CentofanteIII on the cusp and tail spacer. G10 with dual liners also, yet I'd stick with the barrel clip.

Also, there is another design... :D

God bless!

Maybe an Extrema Ratio Fulcrum sized/syle folder, full flat grind with opening holes instead of thumbstuds, cobra hood, S30V blade and the Boye Dent in the lockback, or perhaps a frame compression lock, ala ATR. Tip up deep carry clip of course :p

Or maybe an AFCK competitor. Spyderco Police ss both sides lined G10 handles Full Flat ground S30V blade, cobra hood, Ball Bearing Lock, with tip up, down, left, or right carry.

Also I love the Spyderco Persian, plan to get one soon, how about one without the bolsters, ball bearing lock, longer blade (4-4.5 in) full flat grind, and a wave syle opeing hook ;)

My ultimate "large" EDC folder - a C67 R, but with a solid, flat ground PE S30V blade. The blade would have a 14mm spyderhole, fine traction grooves on the ramp and choil (like those on the Cento III ramp and Stretch choil), and no swedge grind. Handles would be consist of titanium liners, carved titantium front bolsters, and stag scales. Pockets would be milled into the inside of both bolsters, ahead of the pivot, and an ambidexterous tip down waterfall clip would fit into them. Like the original R, there would be no Boye dent.

My ultimate small EDC folder - a Kiwi with a full flat ground blade of Devin Thomas Turkish Twist damascus with no "jog" in the spine (in other words, a single smooth curve from above the spyderhole to the tip). Scales would be mammoth ivory and I would have the bolsters engraved and outlined in gold by Marcus Hunt.

My utimate keyring knife - already have it, a burgundy micarta Jester. Do wish Sal would do another run of these.

Dual action scale release auto with G10 scales and Ti liners.

In my dreams...

please don't laugh ;) :
a Calypso Jr. with metal/TI scales, tip down left/right clip (like now), with the tip of the blade more in the Jester's style (I really like the blade shape of the Jester, if it was flat ground and in VG10 I'll buy the plain SS version to help my serrated lime green FRN one.).
blade steel: maybe ZDP-189, if it proves to be better than VG10.

EDIT: oh, in fact a SS Jester with VG10 flat ground blade would be extremely nice!

Hmmm I can think of a few:

-a Dodo, with a Wharncliffe or very mild Hawkbill blade.

- a cross between a dodo and a Native: Native sized, G10 handle with ball lock, Native blade shape with a handle somewhere between the two in shape.

-A G10 HANDLED LUM CHINESE!!!!!!!!!!

- and finally (for the really ridiculous) a "liquid metal" spydie that changed shape for the job that I needed it for (there weren't any rules were there?)

Thom

It would have a blade shape of the Native II, 5/32" thick, flat ground, S30v, same length as Native. Handles of textured G10, compression lock, nested liners.

lum chinese, in a chris reeve-style integral ti framelock, with a finger groove for grip, and thumb serrations on the spine.

lockable spyderco uk penknife.

both with VG10 steel.

Mabye a rerelease of the Dyad, but with G10 or micarta handles, dual stainless liners, Delica style flat ground skinner blade, Serrated Sheepsfoot, Tip up, down, left or right carry. VG-10 of Course, All things to all people kind of knife.

And a return of the G10 POLICE, with tip up and low mount clip :) Why did the G10 POLICE have to go I much prefer it to the Military, don't get me wrong Military is fine, I have one but I like the old police model better :)

It would be a Persian in s30v, textured g10 handles with no bolster, a ball detent lock (colored ball) and a wire clip. Ambi of course and maybe a wave opener.

I really like the dodo's lock and think spyderco should consider doing some colored balls, I think they would look sweet.

For EDC in areas that allow a 3+" blade, it would be remarkably similar to the StarMate, but with a Compression Lock and S30V steel. For my federal building ED carry, a 2 7/16" StarMate Jr., as above.

As you may have guessed, i love my StarMate! :) :)

An Endura (stainless steel handle) increased in size proportinally until the blade length reached 4.5-5 inches and the Spyderhole increased to 14mm. I would also want the blade width increased to 4mm and the Boye dent to be gone. And I would have the blade steel changed to ZDP-189 and it would be a full flat grind :D . I would buy 4 of these if they ever came out. Two is SE and two is PE. I would use one of each and put the others up to admire :D . Actually I'd probably buy more than than four just in case something bad were to happen to one that way I'd have enough in stock to last the rest of my life lol.

I love the gunting handle, but would prefer a less ninja-like blade and tip up carry. I think a 75mm plain Stretch blade would be great.

I would love to see this knife produced, but I'd keep the Boye Dent, cover the handles in G10 or micarta, use S30V for the blade and Use a clip to allow deep tip up carry. ;) Just my $0.02

I've already told Sal what I think would be the perfect spyderco for me. A sheeps foot (not lambs foot) blade made from flat ground VG10 steel. It would have a blade length around 2 1/4 inches in length. It would not lock and it would have a blue frn handle

I would be able to afford this knife
(if I was really getting fancy I'd have something engraved on the spine)

I'm going to add another question to this thread (so long as you don't mind).

Would you think your ideal spyderco knife would sell well?

Start with a 1/4" thick blade with a big-ole hole for gloved hands.
Have a flat-ground blade similar to the military except maybe a little broader.
A handle similar to the Chinook.
G-10 scales but thick steel liners to make it nice and heavy and strong.
Liner lock or lockback would be fine with me.

I think they could do it so it was priced about like a Chinook; maybe a little higher. Call it the Tarantula !
It'll sell. People LOVE beefy knives! :D
