Hi all,

Been very busy of late, but I'm back. Figure on seeing me here, on Community, Politics and I'll try and hit Uncle Bill's place as often as I can :).

Among other things, I've been totally rebuilding my website:

http://www.ninehundred.com/~equalccw

This is mainly a source on the gun rights war in California, but I've also got an all-new page on California knife law:

http://www.ninehundred.com/~equalccw/knifelaw.html

I've also included mini-reviews on what I consider a selection of the best folders available, in a variety of price ranges. The knife law section includes State Senator Karnette's letter of legislative intent on the newest tweak on the switchblade rules.

Good to see ya kicking...Man I thought you fell off the earth of something..

Jim,

Thanks for the info. I've been waiting...

See ya in the cantina.

Hey, Jim,, welcome back! Glad to see you still kicking tail out there.

Duck, I am sorry to say that I am afraid that you're fighting a losing battle, there.

Thanks Jim. Your site and contributions have always been appreciated, especially by us Kalifornians!

Great information!

You mean I could actually get a CCW here???

I see that they must accept an application, but what are the chances that they will deny it? Assuming that I'm a law-abiding citizen with no criminal record.

Geez, Jim.

Thanks for keeping us posted on the knife laws. I am a native Californian, but now live in Oregon.

I cannot figure what to take with me when I visit the family back home. Guess the safest is a slip-joint with a tiny blade.

Where would something like a Spyderco Delica fit in the law, if carried clipped to the front pocket?

Thanks

It is always great to see your contributions. Especially on the California thing. It is true that I no longer live there, but I learned a long time ago that what California does is also mimicked by a lot of other states within a few years.
Thanks Jim!
Dave

Hi Jim,

I want to thank you publicly for your help in tracking down information about my knife & its history. Your old posts were a great help, and certainly the time you took to personally answer my questions was very much appreciated. You're a gentleman and a scholar. Let me know if I can ever return the favor.

Geode: the knife law situation in Calif is actually quite GOOD. In some ways, better than Oregon (although we still have the auto ban). We're WAY better off than WA State.

On that "knife law page", ALL of the eight folders mentioned and pictured at the bottom are legal for concealment OR open carry...although I tend not to recommend open carry for the really big beasts. A few cities have length limits, but in such cases concealment doesn't make anything "worse" and they're minor offenses anyways. Concealment means you'll dodge 99% of the questions an ignorant or arrogant cop might ask regardless.

Howdy Jim-
Good to see you back alive & kicking here. Good info- Thanks.
Did your lawsuit ever get settled? I remember it going on, but I don't recall the outcome. Hope it went/is going your way.
Regards,
Mike

CCW lawsuit number two, in Federal court, crashed and burned :(.

Problem was that I couldn't find a minority co-plaintiff in time.

It's a long story. If you want to see the gameplan that'll be used in #3 coming up :) - see also:

Read the whole thing, but it's the longer second chapter (on equal protection) that matters.

Jim , Glad to see ya back on the boards.
Also glad to see ya still in there swinging on the ccw thing.
