Thanks to L6 for answering my personal request of him some few (many) weeks ago. L6, you know what I mean by that.
I am now in the midst of making my fourth but first customer knife, a D'Holder with Thuya scales and ATS-34 steel. I told the fellow I really wasn't ready yet (and I do believe that I do not know enough yet) but he insisted that I sell him a D'Holder design. I am a bit scared that it may fall apart if dropped but I know it should not. I am excited about it and feel that I may make it in this stuff if I continue to learn. I suppose you got to get that first one behind you but I still say the fourth knife is too soon to sell for most of us, myself included.
Still working with the Harbor Freight toy 1 X 36 belt grinder but getting to know it better now that it has tryed to take a finger off me.
Good to be back into this stuff and have plans for a couple Bird and Trout knives of the (probably) Loveless design and a couple more
D'Holder hunters, then onto kitchen stuff in (I think) 440C.
I've been away for a few months. What's new that's electrifying? Anything exciting about heat treating stuff? I really love the heat treat.
Special thanks again to our friend L6. It took L6.
Roger
