I'ts been quite a long time coming, but I accepted delivery of my FIRST handmade (CQC6)Thursday. It's a 2000, double bevel with the lethal edge clip. Thought I would share a few of my first impressions with you guys:

First, pride of ownership sometimes comes from uniqe items. Yes, it's only a simple tool, but the enthusiasm for this particular blade has been high for a long time. It has outlived fads and trends to become a hallmark in the world of "tactical" folders. I've owned the Benchmade '7, several Spydercos and a FINE Elishawitz that fit into this niche, but this one really stands out. From simple, strong design to fit and finish, it is probably the finest folding knife I'll own. The balace, action and lockup can't be beat. I think that the chisel point is the best feature....the one that really made me want THIS particular design. It will work best for my uses. My only problem now, is that I don't want to CARRY this one. Y'see, I found ANOTHER '6 that had been carried a little.....it will be here next week. Guess it dosen't hurt to have a SPARE..... And a '5 sure would be handy for air travel..... Am I hooked, or what?
be well ..Joe

BTW, almost forgot! Thanks, Tat....it's awesome! A suspect no more....YOU DID IT...and I have the proof...

A great knife.

And you'll be even more happy when you get the second CQC6 and carry it and use it !

Hey Joe,
Congrats on the arrival of your CQC6 it is a beaut! I have been on the waiting list for a CQC6 for SEVERAL Years and wanted to know if you ordered it directly from Ernie or from a secondary source. How long did it take to receive your knife (from ordering to delivery?) Also, what do you think of secondary bevel as compared to the old style grind? Thanks for the info.

Joe, i am always glad to see people happy with there purchases. Now i have to find another drawer queen since you have mine in hand. Maybe one day you will be able to help me acquire a wanted blade.
Enjoy and please don't rub it in as one of the original suspects has in the past when he got my halfmoon.

Hey Mac, I too have a '6 on order, since April '99...just sold my Elishawiz and decided that only the '6 would do. I THOUGHT is was going to been soon, but a call to EKI in January said "2-3 more years," which put me in the hunt to find one NOW. I ended up buying the two of them....both from "suspects" right here on the forum. I waited an excrutiating THREE DAYS for this one.....

I don't mind the secondary grind, and do not own a pure chisel grind blade to compare it with. It should be easier to sharpen, but it remains to be seen if I will attempt it myself on the '6s. I dropped and broke my old butcher's stone (4"x12") which gives you a lot of confidence getting the angle right. It will be hard to replace that stone...

Would one of you guys kindly point me to the money tree you all seem to be using?

Joe,

Great looking 6. It's exactly like my daily carry 6. You definately got the bug. First sign is wanting spares of everything.

Joe,
I have been waiting since 1996 for my CQC6 to be delivered. Everytime I have called or asked Ernie to find a approximate time range I am either told "one year more" or "soon, very soon." Just this last November I was given the "one year more" time frame. It's frustrating to wait so long, but I have to admit the wait is well worth it. I just wish it would come sometime before I grow to old to appreciate it!

On another topic I would love to purchase a '6' on the open market but I just can't see spending 2 to 3 times the normal amount for one. I wish I was in your boat, your '6' looks great! I guess it's true what they say "Good things come to those who wait."
