budget 300 absolute max (would prefer less). Ive been looking at these Bark River 1855 Bowies. Might get one with a different handle though to bring down the cost a bit.

This one is more than 300

Whereas this one is well in my price range and looks pretty slick.

I dont know much about micarta or g10 handles though. from what I have read it seems as though Micarta has a wider variety of designs and has a better grip. G10 is more indestructible (though micarta is is very durable) but doesnt come in as wide a variety of designs and the grip isnt as good. :-/

Stag handled bowie knives show up sometimes in the Knife Makers For Sale section of the forum. Here is one that sold recently. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=710395

Here's one from Randall:

For a more budget-oriented product, you might check out the Hen and Rooster knives, made in Spain. They have several different bowie patterns in stag.

Bear & Sons have some also.

Not for sale, but seems like an appropriate place to show off this stag bowie that I purchased from a maker here at BladeForums:

For $300 you should be able to find a custom advertised here at Bladeforums. If you're patient and eagle-eye the forum for new posts.

Based on the quality of the Bark River Knives I've purchased, I'm confident the quality of that 1855 Bowie is excellent.

Canal Street Cutlery has a similar Bowie knife also. Don't know if it's available in stag or not. Here it is in ebony:

If you're not set on stag, SOG and Case make attractive traditional-styled Bowies in cocobolo wood.

stagv is pricey right now, and that drives up the cost.... I can make several G-10 or micarta handles for the price of one stag handle...
