Include a list of contents with your kit.

I've been thinking (not tooo hard mind you) of something to add to my kit that maybe others haven't. The first thing I thought of was a list of contents naming each item and a brief use of each item. This would be especially useful if someone else needed your kit and also perhaps "use by" dates.

This is a good idea. I have placed the contents list of my mini kit on the outside of it covered with contact paper plus a list on the inside with the "use by" dates. The outside list is so I know at a glance what is inside without opening it. Also I can instantly identify which kit is which if I am carrying more than one. This is because I have a couple that have specialty items for certain activities or areas.
