Out with my friend Frank again Friday...

Found myself up on the East Crater 48 Trail into the Indian Heaven Wilderness Area.
Thought I'd just stretch my legs for a few minutes, as he relaxed with coffee, but wound up going all the way to Junction Lake, by the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT).

Started out on the well-remembered trail:

But after a mile or so started to run into late-season snow (we're probably four to five weeks behind this season):

But no worries, I'm in - wait for it...

Sandals!

This spring pond will likely become a summer sub-alpine meadow as things thaw and dry out:

The 48 trail wends (yes; trails wend!) itself through the aptly-named Indian Heaven Wilderness:

Junction Lake shows herself through the timber:

The intersection with the PCT is to the west (left) as the southern edge of the lake is skirted (yes: it was skirted):

Looking North toward Canada on the PCT - may have some snow issues at this point:

The gear for the day:

Oh and; obligatory knife porn:

Rather nice jaunt into some beautiful country; can't help but recall my younger days when such trips were routine, and far more extensive.

But its all Good!!!

Thanks for looking,

Gorgeous, even if a bit dizzying with all the wending and skirting:)
I could do with a little snow about now, too!

Great pics, thanks for sharing. Neat to see the sandled feet in snow lol.
someday Good Lord willing I will get to hike in that area.

Beautiful pictures, Thanks for sharing! Although, I think as far as the skirts go, you should of added a pic of Jennifer Love Hewitt in one :D but anyways.....

I think maybe some were expecting a harrowing life-threatening experience based on your thread title...but I'm not that blood thirsty

Looks like you had a great time. The thread title had me a little worried, but... other than that...

I was thinking: Bear...Cougar....Freak Storm ...Nefarious bandits....

Great pics. I hope to hike those trials one day myself. Nice looking cane by the way.

It seems when you just scan the forum titles it cuts off the last for words, in this case I think the words "and went to heaven" were truncated from the title :D Nice.....Sandals - tsk, tsk tsk :D

That sure is some nice hiking area, thanks for sharing the pics !

Ps. Nice choice in knife as well !;)

Some beautiful terrain, looks like a great place to wander around on wending trails. thanks for sharing.

Thanks for making me miss home. Great pics.
I'm not so sure I agree with your choice of footwear though.:)
