Hey jrf-I just went to Barnes & Nobles page and did a search. They have one used/rare bookdealer in their network selling a copy-asking $182.
While there I checked some other books I have packed away.Inosanto's book on training with equipment is also out of print and selling for $133 at one of the dealers on their network.
This is right on time for me as I have some compelling financial needs right now.Now I just have to go unpack all these boxes and find them!

Yes..I went to see the Inosanto Book..its the same one that Amazon.com pulled up...slightly soiled cover etc. etc...Its been hanging around for awhile..But It IS GURO DAN....
B&They have also kept me waiting FORVER for a book I ordered! They did the same stuff of overpricing another book to me til I went around them!!!

jrf-You've done a good service for me. I was going to buy a particular out of print book for my son in college and was unaware of what you just posted.it will save me money and my thanks to you.

Hey jrf-I just went to both sites. The Inosanto filipino Martial Arts book is no longer there.
However some confusing things: I checked some other books I had packed away.Absorb what is useful by Inosanto is listed in abebooks as out of print-available for $90
(I have this also) but Barnes Noble lists it for twelve bucks. They can't both be correct.
Some books I cannot locate at all.
-Jeet Kune Do the art and philosophy of Bruce Lee-also by Inosanto I can't find at all.
-Knife fighting,Knife throwing for Combat by Echanis also I cannot find. There are similar titles like knife selfdefense by this author but they are different.

The best place to search for USED and OUT OF PRINT books on the internet is BOOKFINDER.COM. They link to most of the worthwhile databases online for Used, OOP, and New books, including Advanced Book Exchange (ABE), Bibliofind, Powells, Amazon, and a couple others. If you get anyone to search for you, this is all they will do.

I KNOW...THIS IS WHAT I DO FOR A LIVING. If I am here at all, it is because I am goldbricking while cataloging used, rare, and oop books for internet.

THE FILIPINO MARTIAL ARTS by Inosanto is the best Technical book on FMA I have ever seen, and I have most of them. I was lucky enough to get Dan Inosanto to sign mine at a seminar last year.

I strongly advise you NOT to pay that much for this book. If you keep looking on this site regularly, you will find it for much less. You just have to keep on top of it. I have seen this book go for $20-$45 over the past year, while the same abovementioned dealer had his listed for $100+. I purchased my copy of Inosanto's JEET KUNE DO from Powells for $8.00 within the last 9 months. A lot of dealers list their books without bothering to look up what other dealers sell the same book for...so you can get good deals or get screwed depending on the dealer and your level of patience.

I asked DI why he hasnt reprinted the book himself and he said it took too much money. I think he invests his $$ in travelling abroad to study MA. He is really one of the best instructers in circulation...don't miss the opportunity to attend one of his seminars.

PS: I did not mean to discourage anyone from buying and selling this book. I have seen Echanis' book on KNIFE FIGHTING, KNIFE THROWING FOR COMBAT sell on Ebay for $40-$150.oo. Online auctions are definately a SELLERS market, but it depends on who shows up. Some folks JUST HAVE TO HAVE THE BOOK no matter what, so to your profit. If you posted it in the for sale section of BF for $100. I'm sure you would get a bite.

Thanks to jrf and james I've learned a few things about book hunting.
As far as price and buying/selling I don't completely agree.all of us know someone(or ourselves) who got a knife cheap that sells for more later down the road.sometimes its being lucky and you can't assume the same thing will happen if you just wait. This is especially true if the product/item is no longer made.
A year ago you could find benchmade balisongs at online dealers for retail price. Just recently a couple of Benchmade 2nds sold for $187 at another forum members site.If you wait around for the same price you once saw it at you could wait forever.Yes you could get lucky and see an old price but that is a gamble and others might get to it first.
In any event I'm probably going to post these on the forums exchange and if there is no/little interest its back to the closet for them.

Although this is not nice, the book is generally unavailable so putting it online doesn't hurt the writers profits.
Also there is still a difference between copying pages and having the real thing to sit down with and read over a cup of cofee.
I have access-as I'm sure we all do to copy machines at work that could do this easily, some so good they can make drivers licenses but this doesn't replace an original book.

"The World's Deadliest Fighting Secrets?"

Yes, I've seen it.

No I don't own a copy, and this wasn't mine.

Keehan's (Dante's) system was primarily hand-based and close range. He and his students would train while drinking; reality-based. He believed in full contact. He believed he was ahead of his time.

He was legitimately a black belt holder in JKA Shotokan karate. He and a top competitor named Jim Koncevic got involved in a war with a rival school that resulted in Koncevic's death.

The pamphlet in question contained mostly Chinese-type techniques: sun punches, moon punches, an incredible array of finger strikes/gouges/pulls/rips. Few if any kicks; no grappling, so far as I remember. Though he styled it as Dim Mak, it was not point stiking ala Dillman/Oyata/Montaigue.

Keehan's main point was to overwhelm the opponent with lethal strikes and rips, unrelentlingly overkill. The "Dance Of Death" contained something like 20 potentially deadly strikes.

Personally, if someone was still standing after the 19th lethal strike, I'd begin to worry....

Is it worth getting? Well, if you're a historical completist, okay; as serious training, there's better stuff to be had today. Much better. IMHO.

(sigh) Someday I'll get out all the typos and misspellings before I post!

Do I know Inosanto? is he famous in the Phils World of Martial Arts? is he a Filipino or American?

I only heard and see about him in Bruce Lee Movies and some other foreign movies. He did not starred in Phil Movies I think, to be adored by Filipino Martial Artist.

His ethnic ancestors might be Filipino but he might be US born and US Citizen.

About his book - is it not for sale in asia? I am interested also. I'll try to find out in Manila if there is one.

Saint:

Simple questions; complex answer. Inosanto was Bruce Lee's premier student. Much of the teaching that was done by Lee's school was actually done by Inosanto.

Inosanto was a kenpo dan under Ed Parker, and somewhat schooled in the Phillipine martial arts from John LaCoste (I believe - memory here, could easily be wrong). He may be the only person certified at the highest levels in all three systems taught by Bruce Lee.

Inosanto introduced Lee to weaponry such as nunchaku and double sticks when Lee was playing Kato on THE GREEN HORNET television show. He is Kato's gung fu opponent in at least one episode, and one of Lee's opponents in the movie THE GAME OF DEATH.

The popularity of Phillipine martial arts in the US owes more to Inosanto than any other person, even Remy Presas, IMHO. (I am writing about popularity and not commenting about relative skills).

Since Lee's death Insoanto has been instrumental in the development of Jeet Kune Do Concepts; he has become proficient in and enthusiatic about pentjak silat; he teaches all of the above.

His skills and teaching abilities seem to be thought well of universally.

Thhe description student gave of the count dante book was right on target.I remember it well and for its history its an interesting addition to a library.I was unaware that he was a jka/shotokan black belt. That's suprising because his stuff looked nothing like shotokan.
