Interesting (to me) carry option.

OK, they're pricey but. . .

Duluth Pack has some new bike bags that came out recently. One of which caught my attention:
Hobo Bike Bag

Product Description
This bike bag is big enough for a large water bottle, rain coat, warm jacket/sweater, lunch, and an emergency repair kit. It’s designed to attach to
the back of your bike seat.

Features:
• Heavy Duty 15oz Canvas
• Leather straps with roller buckle attachment
•D-rings on sides to attach optional strap
• Two front pockets with roller buckles
• Leather lash tabs on back

"Ok, great Cpl. What the hell does this have to do with hawks?"
Well, I remember brother Vec talking about using a MOLLE buttpack to carry a poncho and poncho liner, and a hawk through the MOLLE loops on the back, with the D-rings attached to a sling, slung over the shoulder.

Note the side D-rings for sling attachments above and on the back:

Hmm, looks made to slip a hawk handle in, eh?

So, if you like traditional (leather and canvas) gear, this may be a good option. Probably not too hard for those who can sew and do basic leatherwork to make up their own for far less $$.

Neat bag. I can see it being that price. I wouldn't make it for that money but then again I don't use a sewing machine which would take a Lot less time.

I should clarify that I meant a do-it-yourselfer who makes one for himself, could get away for cost of materials, since you don't charge yourself for your time when doing something that's a hobby. ;)

I'm making a really heavy pack for a guy right now with a sheath for his knife and a tomahawk hanging device with D rings all over it for other stuff. I figure he will be hiring a Sherpa to carry it. ;-))) 11 oz latigo is heavy stuff.

lately I've been sticking mine in my belt at about 10:30 O'clock, sheathless, where it rides flat against my glute and the handle rides right along my leg without constant bashing. Works really well, easy and fast to draw, plus it doesn't cost me anything. Once I finish sharpening the beard I'll have to find an alternative as I love my 2 inch leather belt...
