Is anybody else sick of basic black?

I just received my Matriarch today and find the gray handle quite appealing compared to all my black handled folders that I own. It's about time somebody made something other than black; blech! BTW this would be one GREAT knife if it was tip down carry. Holes on large knives seem to always work better this way; in spite of the fact I've always been a tip up fan. Maybe in the future we'll see some knives with red micarta, green G-10 or who knows what. But anyway a knice break in the monotony. Nice job Sal!

I'm a bit tired of black too but there is a reason why so many of what we see is in black.
It's simply cheaper. Black is what the companies that make the componente run in the largest quantity.

Not really. The last knife I bought has coral micarta handle scales, but I wish they were black because it is a little less noticeable. If it is a belt knife that you only wear hunting, I guess you wouldn't care though.

To me, black is not a problem.....but the "tactical" look that often goes with it is.
I have, over the past year or so, disposed of just about all my tac folders. Recent acquisitions have been "traditional" folders with stag and other natural looking handles.
The black tac look just doesn't do it anymore.
Of course, recent changes to local law means the onus is on the carrier to prove a legal reason to carry.....some of the black stuff would be a bit hard to justify to a non-knife person or court.
And I was never a "real" collector who gathers knives with no real practical use.

Well, not many, anyway.

I'm also bored with black. Rumor has it that the next Benchmade/Elishewitz collaboration will have mulitple colors. It's about time!

For a using knife I don't really care what colour it is.
If you like to collect 'tactical' knives then I suppose black is considered almost standard and it is a bit of a Ford Model T situation. It would be nice if companies offered a bit more choice!
It is a shame that no company now is making knives like the late AlMar did. His Talon series in green micarta were very nice 'tactical' knives.

I am sick of just black as well. Unfortunately, with Spyderco, most of the coloured ones are in serrated only.

Sigh...

I would like to see more colours, though.

I like black on a knife. I quess mostly because:
The color REALLY doesn't matter to me to begin with.
Black also doesn't seem to show wear as much.
That hemp rope will never see me coming at night.
Black matches my dark black shirt, that pair of light black jeans and my black hat.... Oh, my name is not Rob.......

I like Black Knives! Flat black is a good all around functional color. I like that Plain Jane look conferred by matte finishes and black hands. Im the same way w/ my Guns.

Black is beautiful if done right. But it's not right for all occassions and that's why we offer 4 alternates on our 360° Pivot™ Executive Knife. Silver (clear anodized 6061-T6), Blue, Burgundy, and Gold. Sorry for the sales pitch, something in my DNA I suppose.

Yours truly,
